New Carbon Cold Air Intake Kit for 997TT

I just wanted to leak out some of the prototype pictures of our new Agency Power carbon fiber cold air intake for the Porsche 997 Turbo. Our 996TT intakes have had GREAT success and many 6speeders now run our product. Evolving to the 997TT we wanted to create another true cold air intake that retained a factory look and had the functionality.

What we developed was a twin cone air filter intake system that utilizes a carbon fiber OEM look box to keep the direct air flow from the spoiler snorkels on to the filters. We have chosen to use K&N filters as they offer the best flow and the K&N name is so strong. The intake works with the factory MAF sensors using aluminum bends with Agency Power silicone couplers. The back of the intake box is actually an aluminum piece that has the holes cut out to keep the air inside the box in almost a vortex manner. The box is secured to the frame. We will also be supplying the kit with a CNC machined aluminum flange to retain the factory PCV return hose.

We plan to have this all installed and do some road tests with it in the next week. We will then dyno it and expect to see gains of 10-15hp. Price point will be more then the standard cold air intakes out there, but much less then the full Werks One carbon air box.

That intake looks good. One thing i would change would be to shorten the intake pipes so that the cone filters would have straight air flow to them. Sort of a ram design. Just my own opinion.

Ran the car all weekend...

First, the throttle response is much quicker like with Sport Mode on. The sound of the turbos really comes alive. Their is more of a blow off valve noise. There has got to be some significant low end and mid range HP gained as the car chirps hard. We will dyno test this week to confirm.

Some feedback...

I showed it off to some customers and friends and they were really impressed with the carbon fiber box. They agree with the above post about getting the filters right under the holes which we will do. So stay tuned!

The dynos should be interesting. It just doesn't seem like a high gain item. Is it possible Agency is introducing inefficiency?

Is Agency actually decreasing the filter area? While the entire area is probably not used efficiently, the stock box has a filter with a nominal dimensions of almost 950 cm2 - a pretty big filter. Do the Agency/K&N filters offer more surface area and/or a filters with less resistance?

Where is the "cold" air coming from that is different from stock? Certainly carbon fiber is not a vastly superior insulator to the plastic in the stock versions. It also makes me wonder what would happen if the foam was removed from the stock box. Is more hot engine bay air entrained by the stock or the Agency system?

In the end, fluid dynamics gets complicated very quickly and simply looking at something is not a reliable indicator of performance -- I may be way off the mark. My questions are more rhetorical than anything else. It will be interesting to see what the dyno shows.

Anybody installed and run their own before and after dynos?? Always hard to accept what the manufacturer posts.

Just released the product yesterday, so know one will have a dyno. I should have a dyno next week to post up
