I think my car was built right after Oktoberfest….

So I am thinking my car must’ve been one of the first cars the guys built after Oktoberfest. So far I have had the engine replaced, radio replaced, climate control unit replaced, and the left radiator fan stopped working…..all of this with under 25k miles on the car. My friend’s tip 997 had the transmission replaced with under 5k miles on it, and her car was built around the same time period. I love Porsche, but am kind of shocked at the amount of part failures there are. Anyone else experienced similar scenarios?

Sorry to hear that. This may be little consolidation but the "liquid cooled"/modular Porsche engines are desinged to be replaced rather than repaired when a major componet(s) fails...so having an engine replaced is not as serious as it used to be. With that said they sure don't build em like they used to

Sorry to hear the bad news. What year is your car? I've had a number of electrical glitches and also recently had a transmission fluid seal repaired on my 2006 Carrera S. Other than that, no other issues. I received it around Octoberfest, so lucky for me it wasn't built around then.

If you find a beer stein under the back seat it's a dead give away it was built when you think!

(Thankfully) My car gas been pretty much rock solid ... With that many issues, I would suggest you look into the lemon law.

State's lemon laws vary and so do the requirements. So first you need to know if Texas has one and what the requirements are.

Just replacing the items you mentioned may not qualify you for such protection.

A 930 owner in Wisconsin sued Porsche under the Wisconsin lemon law. He proved his damages and was awarded the $130,000 car cost, $130,00.00 in punitive damages (allowed under their statute), and $40,000 in legal fees!

Then the judge gave him the option to keep the car if he so wanted. He kept the car, the $40,00 in legal fees, and the $130,000 in punitives!

That was a good deal because he found the electrical fix for the vehicle!

I doubt you'd be so lucky but look into it.

Never fails with me. Ive sold about 300 new Porsches and very very little complaints, almost none. But it always seems that not much happens to new owners then everything happens to one guy. Its almost like they engineer them that way?!?!

I keep raving to people about how few problems both my 997's have had. I have had one issue in almost two years. I am surprised that you have had so many problems with your car but I guess there is a bad one (or two) in every 100,000 units.

It's not a porsche...but I have a buddy who had his RR replaced under the Wisconsin lemon law 3 times. After the third time he bought an Escalade. He got to drive a RR Westminster Edition for 3 years basically for free.

Definitely look into it. Each state is different.
