09 997S Vs Used 997tt
09 997S Vs Used 997tt
A neighbor asked me this question as he faces his next car purchase . I paused and gave it thought.
First --if he wanted PDK --it's a no brainer .
But he didn't --he wanted a manual .
My thoughts went like this :
1) Has to wait to take delivery
2) can have the 997tt now
3) pays top dollar
4) 997tt has depreciation absorbed plus discount
5) 385 HP
4) 480 Hp
5) New Pcm
6) Old PCM
7) New car
8) Used car
I called it even at this point . So I asked him if he wanted to mod the car . He said yes ... with time .
So I picked the 997tt based entirely on that . I felt that the 997tt had much more Hp modification potential and along with some of the other aspects --it was my recommendation .
He's thinking it over . Obviously time is on his side either way .
So I pose the same question to you ... curious to see the replies.

I have seen used GT3 prices around the $115 -$120 range. If he is using it for the street, then the Turbo will likely be a better fit. But for me, a GT3 would get well loved (and driven hard).
I'm currently in the same position, I have a 997 and I'm looking to either get a facelifted S model or go ahead and buy a TT. I have come very close to purchasing two TTs in the past, one was a gorgeous black 07 model with PCCBs (car belonged to Enrique Iglesias...he's got good taste in cars) and the other was an Alpine White model which I had specced with Champion Motors. Having come so close to owning two TTs, and having taken a short yet thrilling ride in Yrrallis1's TT (pre-700bhp...hey Larry its Ray), the bug has bitten me and the TT venom is quickly flowing through my vains. I am in love with the TT, however I'm also very interested in the generation II 997S. It seems obvious to go with the TT, but I just cant help but contemplate the upgrades of the new 997. I'm not interested in the gadgetry so much as I am with the rear LEDs and front facia of the car. For some reason I keep getting stuck in this decision...I will continue reading the forum and hopefully (soon) I will be able to come to a decision.

wait 2 more years and get the 998..... by that time, both 997.5S and 997 Turbo will be much cheaper...and you will have a lot of choices....
I always think that to buy a facelift and then the new one is coming out in 2-3 years is not worth it.

Who?
I know there is a guy on this forum that is selling his 07TT with 3500 miles including some mods.
Check it out.
