Rattles from the plastic-chrono. Anyone got any fixes or experiencing the same thing?

I got a '05 S with Chrono. Couldn't be happier and love the car to death. My only major complaint are some of the rattles-squeaks coming from the cheap plastic surrounding the radio-AC, Chrono and gauges. I have to brace myself whenever driving over any rough terrain and it starts to **** me off to a point that i need to put the radio back on....just kidding

Anyhow, any help or advise would be appreciated.

I just noticed yesterday that at almost exactly 1000 miles I got my first rattle (buzzing) from the instrument cluster . I will wait it out till the first service I guess.

I'm sometimes scarred to take these kinda issues to the dealer due to the fact that they could make the problme worse...the felt sounds like it would work. Its sad how cheap some of the plastic is in our 100k cars!

I went to MaCarbon and got a leather Chrono cover. The rattle went away immediately, due to the leather holding (surrounding) the actual chrono piece.
Fits more snug...

Does anyone get it from the radio/ac plastic....its more like chirping vs rattling. I would be interested in the felt fix.

Maybe a DIY...

My dealer fixes my rattles for free.
Bring them some food when you go in, be really nice, and you'd be surprised how wonderful Porsche service can be. Or maybe I'm just lucky to have a great service dept.

Leather

We have a few more leather chronos in stock if anyone is interested. PM me for details. Our CF pod should also help as well!

i had a few rattles. surprised to hear people are fixing them on their own. i took them to the dealer and they took out the pieces, including the chrono and repacked them with felt tape i think to make them more snug. there's a bit of a break in period on these guys.

dealer (barrier motors in bellevue, wa) was great about it.

Good to know, as Barrier in Bellevue will by my service dealer once the Targa arrives. However, I'd fix it myself if I could, before taking it to the dealer because: 1) I'd know what I did and didn't do, 2) don't lose the time having to drop the car off for service

i got a rattle up in my dash too! it sounded like it was coming from the chorno clock, but i pulled it out and test drove it, but the rattle's still there! it sounds like a loose wire/plug is hitting against a metal part in the dash. i've pulled the radio, ac controls, ac vents, and ashtry trying to find the sound, but have been unsuccessful! i also tried 2 dealers but they could not locate it and are unwilling to take apart the whole dash (though i'd be afraid of more sounds if they do this).

anyone find there rattles from anywhere else?
