Porsche already has cut back on planned allocation of 09 997's for the US market twice.

No offense, but in my experience, most people seem to brag about the deal they got and in many instances I've later learned it was not accurate. Not saying that about you in any respect. I hope you get 8%; let me know how it goes. I will tell you that the dealer I went to gave a previous customer $500 off an 09 order and this is his 11th Porsche from that dealer in the past 10 years. That is consistent to what I'm hearing in South CA.
That's incredible...only $500 off? WOW! 5-7% off may be more realistic in my neck of the woods then!

I'm starting to think I'm not as good of a negotiator as I thought I was.

Maybe it's the dumb smile I have when I go to the dealer that gives it away. Regardless, I'm happy when other's save money. I'm already lucky enough to afford (barely) a Porsche, so any discount is a bonus.

Let me know how are your deals go.

That's exactly how it should go. Good going.

Believing that production cuts will raise prices is ridiculous. They need to sell cars whether low or high production.

If you are independent about your interest towards the putchase the dealer will make the purchase interesting for you.

Enlighten us how you did that. Maybe you could give a workshop. The most I've heard is 5 grand off on a dealer in the midwest.

Why did you stop at 8K. Why not 18K.

well - workshop lesson number 1...

ask. start asking for more than you want - then negotiate - so - started by asking for $12k off - ended up settling for $8k (same negotiations that take place with a house....)

i had to go to a few dealers - but - eventually they stopped laughing and gave me a deal...i dont mind being laughed at if it means i eventually get the deal i want...

Big discounts will not be heard of for a couple months.

A: Some dealers have new 2007 stock still sitting around! Let alone 2008s!
B: Its a new car and you will have the "I dont care how much" guys come and buy up the first few.

I can almost guarantee you go to the dealer in December and you will pick one up at a really really nice discount. Dealers are not selling cars like they did 12 months ago, the economy is not all to blame.

it will be really nice for a sales person to tell me, economy is not great, This is a good time if you like to pick up a car. Instead---09 is all new, we will not put a mark-up on it, and will try to get you a car as fast as possible.... we can give you a courtesy discount.... or there are still plenty of people with money around...
