1) The CPO is a used car marketing strategy . It does not cover the same things as a the original factory warranty . Many used owners even opt to get an extended warranty despite havinga CPO car. Don't let that be the factor.

2) I am not one for manual seats BUT I would rather have an S with manual than a non S with power seats . Yes seat adjustment is somewhat old fashioned with manual but its not awful . GT2 and Gt3 often come with manual seats.

My understanding was that the post-8/1/08 CPO's would be the same as the original factory warranty?

Yrralis, I've seen you post that you've seen lightly optioned 997 C2S's going for mid-to-high $50's. I'm surprised you don't think $61k ($59k I guess w/o CPO) sounds high?

1) The factory warranty covers the car until 50K miles . The "certified Porsche warranty" does not cover the exact same things . My advice to get the what is or what isn't covered answers is for you to ask that question on the 996 Turbo forum . My guess is that you would get the best answers from those guys who have a high end , out of warranty, sometimes CPO'd car and face nationwide service experiences .

2) The high 50's for a C2S is not current market . These cars go do not always just keep going down . When dealerships cleared inventory waiting for the new 09's the remaining 08's are often heavily optioned and expensive . The used car demand increased . In fact even the lagging economy made used car Porsche shopping more desireable.

People will always want the Porsche in any economy but will shop based on what's in stock and what they can afford .

So instead of high 50's of the past it's now low 60's bucking the trend of many other manufactures and models . Example -- the M3 new and used took a huge plunge .

I felt like prices were a touch lower two months ago when I was following the market a lot more closely, so that explains a lot.

As always, thanks for the advice. I'm trying for the S, but it's getting hard to find one at a reasonable premium (i.e. $6k or less vs. fastlane's C2S). Every time I call up the dealer they say "Oh that's already been sold" etc.

CPO'd cars after 8/1 carry 100% the same warranty as the original warranty. This was what Porsche North America told me the other week.

A used 06'-07'C2S Cab, with under 15k,excellent condition lasts about 1 week on the lot in the NYC/NJ market..people, including myself, are looking for used deals because the 09's arrival. I've seen the normal approx 5k drop going into fall pricing mode, but try to find the same car in march in 09, it's usually tough, they are already sold before they are turned in...I'v been looking for for awhile, JMHO.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I do. And I don't have a car to trade-in to offset, though I'm not even sure that applies here.

I'm hoping for $63k. *fingers crossed*

Someone in SoCal posted they were offered a '07 C2S w/ 7k miles, moderately optioned, at $75k. So at $64k this C2S starts getting into the dicey range given the other one was 2 whole model years later, half the mileage, and 2 years more warranty. Honestly, if it didn't have clear bra and the k40 already installed, I think I'd walk away. But those save me a lot of time/money/hassle.

The ~$5k drop was what I was expecting, but I definitely haven't seen it. What #'s are you looking for on a '06-'07 C2S cab? I assume I should discount ~$5k/model year and ~$5k for the cab to ballpark the price of a '05 C2S coupe?

06' CS2 cab under 10k miles Nav,full leather ,Bose, chrono I've seen for 73k to 76k at dealers here, if you go back the following weekend, they are gone.

I think an 06 under 15k miles, IMHO, is the best value now. To pay an extra 8k for an 07 when the 09's are coming doesn't make sense. Your going to have to have skin in the game eventually, if you buy an 06/07 right now, it should be in your mind that you are keeping the car for a while, 2 years+ to reap the value. These bottom out eventually, after 20k miles, your good to about 50k until the next hit.

Come March 09, 06's and 07's (S cabs in my area ) will be in demand as the economy lags and porsche cuts back on the 09's...JMO

n/m they're claiming they own it at $63,874 and that's their final offer (offered originally at $64,995).

I'm tempted to take it, but this seems high by $2-3k. though if a '06 C2S cab is going for $73-76k, it sounds like $64k is fair given the ~$10k discount for 1 younger model year + cabriolet.

Does seem a couple of grand high. I've been searching for a while and for an extra 4-5k you can get yourself into a low mileage 06 which will have at least an additional year on the warranty.

Heheh, try telling that to a dealer. I really don't want to keep getting upsold though ;-).

I started this process looking at a 996 C2 for ~$30k after watching a season of Top Gear on youtube and falling in love w/ the idea of buying a performance vehicle. Then I decided to go for a 997 C2 at $50-55k. Now I'm looking at a 997 C2S at $64k.

If I don't watch it, I'm going to be in an Aston DB9 before the month is out . . .

If you find a Pcar that is what your looking for and it is within range..ie 2k or so, best to really think about closing the deal. I've been looking for awhile, There is one car I lost to another buyer 2 months ago over $2500 off I was holding out for, that I would kill for now because I can't find anything close to how nice the car was...I know it's tough, I can't wait to buy and maybe then I will get some sleep
