Wester Cdn supercharged 997's??

I'm wondering who is running super-charged 997's in western Canada?
With the cooler air & elevation in some areas, has anyone had to re-tune their car from the aftermarket (VF or TPC) generic map?

Also just want to know if anyone has had any reliability issues?

Happy motoring!:)

I am not aware of any Supercharged 997's in Vancouver. I know that a few intend to do this mod one day.

There's one in Edmonton that I know of but not sure if the owner is on the forum.
My car is awesome already but I really would like more power on acceleration.
Lots of "tweaks" available but the SC seems to provide the most significant power gain.
Just don't want to get into something that makes the car run rough & add extra trips to the shop!

Only SC car I know of is Chris's(CG Motorsports) and it is a 996(not 997) with an Evo supercharger.
I realize that you want info on a 997 but I think what you are looking for is the answer to tuning/climate which the 996 would have the same problems(?).I would be inclined to contact Chris to find out,I do believe he is a dealer for the Evo/VF kit !

Super-charging a car with seasonal weather

Thanks guys for your thoughts.
Just wondering if Chris is on this forum & what his call-sign is, so I can connect with him.

We have sold two 996 VF/EVO kits here in Calgary. There have been a number of recent refinements to the 997 kit...

Forced air in Calgary

How much are you asking for the kit?
Does Porsche dealer do the install or do you do it?
Install & kit what sort of $$
You mentioned refinements, what would these be?
Thanks for your help!;)

Switch from Vortech v2 to v3 Blower
Stage 2 pulley available, More power
new GIAC flash
Separate flash loader for multiple Flash Programs (Race Gas, Pump Gas, Valet, Kill)

I love mine, makes your car significantly faster, I only put about 400 miles or so on the kit, so far no reliability issues. It can really guzzle gas if you get on the throttle.

Gas mileage & reliability

Great to here you're having fun with the car & no reliability issues.
I don't mind so much if the gas mileage goes down some with fun driving. As this mod costs alot & might not be the best for re-sale, the last thing you want is an unreliable car.
About how much power did you gain?
The curves posted by Delius show a wide range for the same car on different dyno runs.

When I picked up the car from VF, it made 398 to the wheels. That was with the stage 1 tuning. I had the factory exhaust on the car during that run. When they increased the boost with a smaller pulley, They were not able to get the gains they wanted because of the restriction from the stock exhaust. Since then I've installed a full set of cargraphic exhaust, but I also am installing a Gt3 rear bumper. As soon as that's done the cars going back to Vf, to finish the stage 2 tuning. The most whp Vf was able to make with the stock exhaust was 422 to the wheels, But also had a big flat spot in the middle of the powerband.

I had the Ruf conversion on a 06 997 C4S - it was done in Dallas but I live in Denver - no problems with the cooler air and mile high elevation. Most, if not all, SC kits come with a modified ECU.

I just bought a 996 3.4L engine for my boxster and I'm planing on a s/c kit installed this winter. I'm in Edmonton too. Maybe we should meet up this spring.

p.s Are there any good porsche clubs in Edmonton?

G-forceTarga4S Sep 18, 2008 10:20 AM

Engine switch & supercharged boxster

That's going to be one fast boxster! A guy in Edmonton put a turbo kit on a Cayman S & it's apparently incredible. Another guy put a 3.8L into a Cayman & apparently that's had some issues with engine lights coming on & so forth. There is a great local porsche club here in Edmonton. You have to join Porsche club of america first then get the associated membership with the Northern Alberta chapter. Good luck with the mods.
