Do you guys and gals drive your car to the track on DOT-R's?
I wanted to know what do most people do if they don't trailer their car to the track. Does anyone use a roof rack? I don't think you can fit 4 rims in the front and back seats. I don't thick I even want to try. I don't want to drive a lot of miles to and from the track. Not to mention if it starts raining out, I don't want to get stuck on the highway.

I have driven to the track on R-compounds for over 10 yrs. as far as VIR which is 440 miles for me. I have had no problems but bear in mind this is on the more streatable of Rs, toyo Ra1, R888, yoko A032, etc. I wouldn't recommend it on on hoosier A6 for example. Also I don't take them down to the cords either. I have been caught in rain (heavy rain a few time) but never had a problem with aquaplaning. you need to slow down and excercise caution and you will be fine.

I have driven to and from the track on both 048's and MPSC. I have driven as far as 200+ miles each way.
I am considering doing some trailoring next year, but we will see how things work out. |

I dont like to do it casue I dont have the money to waste the tires like that and I have to drive to far to get to tracks.

I've been driving to and from the track on my R888s. No problem so far. They're okay on wet roads, but bad going over standing water.

A6 is the autox tire, R6 is the track tire.

Absolutely!! I drive to the track using MPSC's with no issue. Makes life a whole lot easier......

I have driven on MPSC several times with no issues. Much easier than trailering.

yep, just using an extreme example. guys do race, track, time attack on A6s. they can be faster for a few laps on the right car than R6s.

I also drove to the track on toyo RA1's and the yoko A032's. The A032's are obnoxiously loud, sounded almost like bad wheel bearings from inside the car, but the wear from 250 miles each way to VIR is trivial compared to the track usage.
