bad luck with 997.2!
bad luck with 997.2!
Some of you may remember that I posted back in March when my 4 month old 97' 997 got broad sided by someone texting while driving. Although I emerged physically unscathed and my car's bodywork was repairable, the body shop left it outdoors in the rain ( it had no window) and the interior was ruined, mold, mushrooms, the whole deal. I traded in the 07' in July and ordered an 09' for November delivery.
So Friday I pick up my brand new Aqua Blue / Black manual 997.2. The car is fabulous and the satellite radio is a must have in my view. The touch screen is a joy to use and is a huge improvement over the previous generation.
I am at the gym Saturday morning and decided to give the car the once over and noticed a huge screw sticking out of the middle of the right rear tire. I could not believe it! The damn car was 12 hours old! So off I went to the tire shop and left the car there and tool a walk.
About an hour later I returned and sat in the waiting room and smelled a foul and mysterious odor. I look down and realized I had stepped in a huge pile of dog crap. Of course I couldn't drive off like that so I spent 15 minutes cleaning my shoe in the bathroom of the tire shop.
By this point I was ready to just go home and not leave the house the rest of the weekend. My car was ready and I inspected the rim and sure enough no scuff marks. I was content and thought all was well until I got in the car and noticed the plastic border underneath the door was scuffed from the heavy work boots being dragged over them. I was ready to scream! Idiots!
I then decide I want to wash the car so I went to a buddys and spent two hours giving it the full treatment. I wanted to wash away my bad mojo. The car was immaculate as I drove off. I got to the first red light and a pile of bird crap lands on the hood and winshield. I just lowered my head and gave up and retreated home.
It is Sunday and I have not moved the car all day. I will go to the dealer tomorrow and see if I can get the plastic replaced and hopefully no more mishaps.

Wow !! Apparently we live in the same city but I have not faced the same turmoil . I have stepped in a huge pile of crap recently though -- barefoot !!!
So in that regard to that one obstacle at least you had shoes on .
Regarding the car . I never take it to a tire shop -only dealership and they do outstanding work !!!
You will get to enjoy this car !!!! Hang in there.

Let me guess....your nick-name isn't Lucky is it? With all that bad luck, you should have bought a lottery ticket. Oh, except you probably would have got a paper cut from it.
Tell us more (good) news about your car when you gain more experiences with it.

If so your car is a going to be outstanding and reliable with many years of no hassle enjoyment,LOL!
How's that for being optimistic?
Stacy
PS As far as the dog deal, can't help you with that one......Maybe watch where you step,LOL!
But remember bad things come in 3's,so you are good now!
All BS aside I am sure you will find that you are going to love the car and that these things will happen from time to time.It just is magnified when you are driving such a sweet car!

Hey Bro, shift happens. My car was a disaster when I got it and most of the earlier comments from others were negative. It now looks like a $100k car and there's a list of things left to do including interior restoration which I'm doing myself. Understand it's a car, not a person. Things are going to happen unless you donate it to a museum. Try not to take driving events or "the car" too seriously. When I'm **** about vehicles and think "oh no, be extra careful it's a Porsche" etc, the car becomes a magnet for dissapoinment. So relax. Have fun, loosen up and drive it like a Honda
. All that cheap plastic can easily be replaced (door sills) and other things. Congrats on that 09, sure it's a blast to drive and the electronic improvements make it even more exciting.

dude, it's a car. I appreciate and understand that it's a brand new car. But come one, just drive it and enjoy it. Life is too short to worry about scuff marks on plastic moulding and bird **** (excuse my language).
Scuff marks on a car that's only one day old in my opinion was a blatant disregard by tire repair employee . Bird crap dries and actually becomes like sandpaper on the clear coat paint causing stain and /or scratch .
Of course a car faces wear and tear in use but I feel it takes an effort to try and preseve a cherished car's integrity so that each time it's driven the car feels as close to being a new car which has been properly broken in.

Hope the rest of the weekend was better.
