ECU upgrade and lag issue
ECU upgrade and lag issue
Wanted to know if it is normal for a change in exhaust tone at aroud 5k-6k RPMs with sport exhaust and carbon air box. It almost feels as if there may be a lag also, not sure, but the sound pitch is different (higher pitch). Question; is this normal or not and should I go back to champion and have them take a look at it. Thanks for any assistance with this.
It is the F77 setup. There doesn't appear to be low end torque loss. The sound is good, there just seems to be a tone change, from a slightly lower pitch to almost an open direct pipe sound at the higher RPMs...
Actually the 3.8L does start to wail with sound at around 5k rpm's. It's NORMAL
I wasn't complaining, I was curious, I had everything but the carbon air box on my 977 C2S, on the 977 C4S, I have the airbox. Was wonerding if this is what was making the difference of if it may have been an ECU issue, it was a new sounding effect. Thanks for the good info, much appreciated.
Just wanted to add; the posts on this site give great insite into better knowing your car. And brings up questions as to what to add on next for the money and is it worth it.. Thanks all.

My F77/Tubi sounded amazing . I loved the rasp sound at high throttle .
In fact I stuck with Werks1 and Tubi setup on my current Turbo . Even when I upgraded to the EVT 700 I kept those components .
I am not sure what flash Champion uses but mine has the Evomsit and it is truly incredible .

The stock air box has a hemholtz resonator to take out that cool louder sound that starts at around 5k rpm. The F77 air box like other after market boxes lets all that glorious louder sound come out. This would have nothing to do with the ECU.
However speaking of ECU re-programs I can tell you on my last Carrera S I did the Softronic ECU upgrade and it really works.
Softronics ECU?? is that another upgradable program that needs to be loaded? What is different with this as opposed to the what champion offers?

1-Softtronic is the only software that will allow you to fully revert back to the original ECU program byte by byte...the stock program!
2-The consumer can flash there own car! Softronic has given the end user the complete freedom to upgrade their DME or also known as an ECU in a variety of ways, or to return their car to stock at any time.
3-The software is also transferable to the next owner.
4-Softtronic will have the 1st ecu re-program for the 2009 models due to Scott's work with Porsche racing.
5-Now as far as optimizing a flash ,Softronic already incorporates many features in its map. 1 example you would get the same flash if you had sport cats or not. The flash is already set to utilize or correct problems with either exhaust and maximize its efficiency for it without a CEL.
6- Scott, is on these forums to directly answer your questions...no other company does that with there ECU flash upgrades.
