I agree - I can't get more than 40-50% of what the 997S can do in my traffic-ridden commute to work, which is why I usually take my beat up 4runner. I shouldn't refer to my "bug" as a mod bug because I really just want more options, like the aero kit, sport chrono, PSE, etc. Nothing that will drastically affect performance, but maybe just makes the 997 a little more special. Maybe I'm stupid/nuts about this, but I don't care. ahhaha

The bottom line is - as is the case for many on this forum - buying/trading cars is my expensive hobby and I could be as easily sold on picking up another S2K versus this 06 white 997S beauty. I just need to believe I'm getting a good deal to offset the financial impact of frequent turnover - and need space in the garage!

Finally, I may be force to keep the 997S after all's said and done because there are so few buyers in this market/economy.

Thanks for all the input!
SSAA,

Did you drive the white 997? Now i'm actually a little interested in the car. I'm selling my boxster, and will be buying a 997. How was the car? Any blemishes?

Thanks!

987bs:

I didn't actually drive the car, but I sat in it and cranked her up. The car is virtually brand new and looks wonderful inside and out. I didn't see any blemishes, but I also didn't inspect the car closely.

They picked it up just a few weeks ago in California. I tried dealing a little with them, but don't think they'll go below 67....maybe 66. Who knows? Maybe I'm a terrible negotiator...haha...I have zero leverage since I still have my 05 997S.

This thread has stirred up some thoughts around keeping my 05 997S and picking up a S2000 as my DD :-)

987 -- You're in my neck of the woods (also Miami) . You haven't looked locally at P cars?

Seattle is a long way to go for a used car.

yrralist1,

I tried The Collection and Champion, but they dont have the combo I want (aero kit, low miles, 06-08, well optioned and good price), oh, and white! .

I dont think there should be any problem buying from far, as long as the car is in great condition... or am I missing something?? Shipping should be no more than $1200 (hopefully)

One of the dealers you mentoned.."The Collection"...be careful..I was looking at a car here and was all set to buy it until my friend who is NYPD ran the VIN..car was in an accident in FLA, sold back to "The Collection" and then sold to a dealer up here. All done in 9 weeks time from the date of the police report. Didn't show up on carfax yet, but showed up on the police data base.

Wink Aero Kit Package

The aero kit package has zero trade in value to any dealer. The miles are great and hard to find. You should have the car checked out by a dealer and make sure service is up to date. Should not need anything more than a minor service(oil and filters changed). A car is only worth what somebody's willing to pay. 60K is all the money for a Porsche C2S Coupe from a non Porsche dealer. Good Luck....

I don't feel it's vaild to point blame at them . Any car that's traded in can be in an accident and whether it appears on carfax or not could have many reasons . In fact you claim that you tried to buy this car at a "dealer up here " (a different dealership) yet you don't hold that dealership , carfax , or whatever agencies gather the accident info to any accountability.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with this dealership and have enjoyed every car I have ever bought from them (same with Champion) .

Now --let me tell you a little story . On the day I bought my M3 I also was considering a 997S . In the shuffle of going to dealerships I had a blank (unsigned) check in my pocket . I dropped it by accident at the Collection as they were closing and it was their honesty that brought it to my attention immediately the next day .

It sounds like you want a very specific car . Shipping adds a cost but ought not be a dealbreaker if you love that car in Seattle . I do feel that a CPO is important though and I also suggest that one must look at the (used) car he is buying in person and drive it.

Good luck .

Hi Yrralis,

I'm sure we all agree one could have one could have a great experience a dealership while another could not. It depends on the people you interact with and how you are treated in that given amount of time.

I saw the dealers name on the thread and posted my experience with them..as they were involved. I was given their name by the dealer up here so I could ask them the history on the car. I was quite simply told by them they had sold the car to the original owner and that he traded out of to purchase another car. The dealership up here said they got the car because they did some kind of swap with "the Collection".

As far as the dealer up here, they know how I "feel". I was going to buy that car to tie me over until the 09 I had on order with them came in. I bought my 06 from somewhere else and canceled my order with them. Probably worked out for the best given the economy, although I do like PDK..so tempted...thats another thread.

IMO both dealers, or rather the people I dealt with, are to blame so to speak, but blame is rather pointless in this case as I did not purchase the car so legal action did not come into play.

As for as Carfax, it's a good tool if they accidents are reported and it has time to work through the system to show up.But Carfax didnt speak to me with wilfull deceit. When buying a 100K car, one must do what they can to assure ones self so hence the check from my friend.

It is not my intention to flag a dealer, actually, this is the first time I believe I mentioned it on the board. However, in the spirit of all who come here for information, I posted my experience as a fellow 6speeder.

I have always admired your posts as they are well thought out and knowledged based.

Respectfully,

NYCPCAR

I just had a car shipped from the east coast to Socal. The price was $2100ish and that was on the back of an uncovered standard auto hauler. While my car showed up in great shape I would recommend going with an enclosed trailer which is going to run you a littler more. Best prices I have seen for those are $1800 not including the fuel sur-charge which is going to make it a few hundred more.

$1,375
They did a great job. Shop around and ask for a better price.

Thanks Izzone, I already shopped around, but quoted from CA to Miami... $750 was the lowest (open) and 850 (enclosed).
