Briefy -- why I like both for different reasons.

1) The NA -- very pure and basic 911 . It's light and nimble and brings the heritage of this car into its latest phase . It's the remaining core building block of a multi decate benchmark .

2) The Turbo - It has all the flavor of a 911 going from Clark Kent to Superman .
With mods not many can run with it and it embarrasses quite a few.

Most "turbo guys' started out as NA guys and pondered the idea after a few muscle cars and modded street cars smoked them on a straight run. There is a certain juvenile hint at wanting a sophisticated road monster which can also be civilized and comfortable enough to drive slow and go formal too.

Yeah, I like the TT very much, I am not sure if I would ever truly need that much power, I guess I can say that about my 997S as well, but the prospect of owning one has been pondered before!

I would save the money and put it toward a steering wheel with "logic" flippers for the PDK. Lighter wheels would be a good mod you can carry over on the PDK.

Thanks to everyone on the comments. I am going to live with the NA motor and not mod it, save some money, and put it towards more GT2 mods. If I need more speed, I can always drive that car and let my wife putt along.

Add a sport shifter , a little suspension work and some light quality wheels and you are there.
+1. Also enjoy/learn the feel of the car then based an what you're looking to improve, go for it. Suspension tightens the car, as does lowering it, the ECU and tubi makes the car sound and increase torque at higher RPM's. You can always find something to add, this is a great forum, people here are very informed. You can also leave it alone and enjoy as is, but once you start the mods it's a bit difficult to stop, then there's the track issues. All in all, tons of fun.

Wow, you really nailed it. And to amplify, I'm not at all against the turbo power thing. I just wouldn't want to give up the RWD and take on the weight, electronics and numbing machinery-managed feel of the turbo. I'd be head over heels if there was an 'S turbo' or a 'TT/RWD'. Yes, there is the GT2, but that's mega bucks and has top that doesn't fold.
Porsche makes every combinatoric of the 911 except for the one I exactly want. I'd be tempted to say I'm quietly suffering, but, well, naaaah.

I decided a while ago that I was more of an NA guy. Not that I wouldn't ever own a TT but that driving was more than just speed for me. The feel of the car mattered, how I interacted with it mattered. I am also, not really a track guy so I did not need something that could do 200mph. I have found that in some ways my beat up 98 M3 can be just as fun as my 997S. In the M3 I can get on an on ramp, mash the pedal, and listen the engine sing to redline in more than 2 gears while I merge into traffic. In my 997S I get through about 2 gears before I go "Oh Sh$t" and have to slow down to merge into traffic. I cannot even imagine how stunted the road driving experience in a GT2 must be in day to day traffic. (not that I wouldn't enjoy finding out)

Anyway, I mod to increase what I crave in my driving experience, good handling, a nice sound, good looks, and crisp clean and smooth throttle response.... If money were no object I would probably be a GT3RS owner.

Jason

Lots of good stuff but no one seems to answer your question. Lots of good software available to reflash (fabspeed.com, awe, evoms.com,GIAC, and many more). This alone about a $1100 installed, I think, and adds only a few ponies but dramatically changes hp and tq at the low end - just like taking 3-400 #s out of the car. Another 4-6k to get decent headers, cats, mufflers, and a better air intake. Down side is that this is money you'll never get back in this market. Upside is that you would have a car that will out gun the new S with PDK everywhere except maybe the 0-60 if the 09 guy is using his launch control ( and to many of us it will sound a hell of a lot better).
