Question Anyone know about build / delivery date changes?

I went to my dealer last week and was told that the 997.2 I have on order has a build date that jumped out from early February to late March.

They've also regularly told me that delivery to the West Coast takes a very predictable 5-6 weeks, but things in PorscheWorld seem to be in flux this winter, what with factory closures and extra vacation, Panamera production, etc.

Does anyone have any RECENT info or rumors, good or bad, concerning what to expect on the build and delivery dates? I know many of you order custom Pcars, but this year seems to be different from "normal" times.

If they can't get me my cabrio for the bulk of the summer driving season, I may just make some more changes to the order and say, What the F***, I'll have it by Thanksgiving! I keep refining what I want the more I hang around these forums

Most are saying "3 months" but ultimately its in Porsches hands . With inventory piled up on lots why not opt for browsing the selection and seeing what they have ?

March is almost close enough to bump the prder to model year 2010 OR ask for a screaming deal on the 09 . If it's a PDK car I wonder if the 2010 model will have some change with the paddles . If it a manual I would start hammering out a deal .

All the carmakers are going into massive supply-restriction mode. So frankly the very best deals on cars imho will be now and March, because after that the supply will lighten up and get more in line with demand again (at least for carmakers with in-demand cars). This is why inflation always follows depressionary deflations (i.e. don't sit in cash too much longer, buy some gold, buy some real estate) - supply gets choked back and invariably goes too far and then people scramble to buy goods.

Same thing happened to my Pcar scheduled for Feb Build, now they are saying March Build. Makes me think of finding an 08 off the lot for tons less but I do want that perfect custom built car to my specs like DPorcella@sbcgl says.

It's nice to have my instincts confirmed by you guys. There ARE great deals on 08's out there, but I'd set my sights on a 997.2 with the DFI and a few light options.

Plus, I can't seem to find an '08 or an '09 out there that floats my boat, probably because I've played with the configurator so much that I know exctly what I want and don't want.

The question then becomes: when does a late '09 become a '10?

Is there a specific rare configuration desired because supply is so abundant ?

As for 09 being a 10 . In the past price declines on a sliding scale . For instance an 08 leftover is priced to sell . One can buy a Turbo for less than an 09 C4S . A 997S will price less than a 09 Base C2 .

It's one of those times where picking up the phone and making calls will get you a car. If you have a deposit --tel that to the next dealership and ask them if they make it worth your dime to even risk losing the deposit .

Theres a lot of dealerships .
