Porsche Feb. Sales: Not Too Bad!

http://www.reuters.com/article/press...009+BW20090303

Follow the link above for the detailed breakdown, model-by-model.

"February sales in the U.S. of 1,518 units compared to the same period last year when it sold 1,715 new cars....
...In particular, sports cars showed significant resilience .....The 911 also held up respectably with sales of 557 compared to 602 in February 2008, a decrease of just 7 percent. Based on a comparison with January of this year, February`s 911 results were up 25 percent. "

I feel like my stock is "up" on that news. Must be time to get some HREs! j/k

If you look a little closer the 997 was up in almost all areas. The 911 was brought down only because of the Turbo and GT's complete lack of sales...

On another porsche board that we frequent, posters are saying we should certainly NOT be buying porsches right now ,"out of sensitivity to those who are having difficult economic times". I just don't get that line of reasoning.....

I split the baby on that one. When I got my used 911 in January, I didn't tell anyone in my rather social office, and park where nobody sees me.

This is a bad time to be flaunting your expensive toys, but I totally disagree that we shouldn't be buying them.

I had the same feelings when I bought mine, I was actually embarrassed to tell a few people about the new car. One of my buddies who is in the process of loosing everything asked to see the car. I said I felt bad about buying it when so many people are struggling. His reaction was shut the F up; if you can afford it then don't worry about it.

I have a lot of compassion for people that have lost their jobs, their homes and some their families as a result of this recession; believe me you I have lost plenty of money too. There is nothing I can do to help them except keep working, pay my taxes, support the office of our leaders and buy and spend money to support the economy.

Yeah, I try to keep low-key and I am not the kind to rub anyone's nose in it. Funny thing is that I did not buy a porsche out of personal financial success. I have been waiting for this car since I was 10 years old and I have been saving for this car for a long, long while and made sacrifices to get it. It seems that no matter when someone buys a porsche, they invariably are tossed in to the category of spoiled snob! Two years ago, when I was thinking of selling my 6+ year old BMW, folks would ask what I wanted to get. And I would say a 911. The answer was always a sarcastic, "well, it must be nice having that kind of money". Meanwhile, they drive and lease new $50K SUVs every two years! I don't have a porsche to show it off (it is pavement grey color), and it goes into my garage the moment I get home, as opposed to all the hummers and escalades my neighbors NEVER put in their garage until after dark. LOL. The forum that had this discussion is rennlist. They were asked by a member if he should get an M3 or 911. The advice they gave him was to go get the M3 out of sensitivity to others. Funny thing is that they did not see the hypocrisy that they all own porsches and are telling this guy he should not have one. Unbelievable!

OUCH! At least she doesn't send the dog out to "greet" you as you pull up the driveway. Picture a 100 lbs german shepherd scraping the side window and door!
I think I will need to cover the whole car in clearbra
