Gotta love those Leprechauns. Even packed the box with green stuffing....

X51 headers Thermal Coated with Sterling finish. Works of art they are. :D

Any tips from the DIYers ? Looks to be a simple R&R. Just need to find the time and room in the garage.

My thanks to Mr. O'Keefe in Minnesota for a seamless transaction.

There is one bolt on either side, closest to the rear of the car that looks nearly impossible to get to, otherwise straight forward R&R.

I've read that if you have a universal joint adapter for your socket set or a flexible socket extension (http://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Socke.../dp/B00129IG7W) you should have no problems.

GL, and they look great in that finish!

Luck o' the Irish to ya, Hattie!

I think you made a good choice to get the X51s. Will keep your torque curve in the middle as well as improve your sound. I have equal-length as part of a full Milltek Sport system and it does move it up the dial (sounds great, though, and performance is remarkable higher up on the tach. Gotta say, though, I like that lower-end torque for daily driving.

where did you get the header? price?

Have fun HAT. Update us when you start the swap. Love the garage btw.

I would also use new bolts and gaskets (recommended and cheap insurance). Like said above, a universal socket adapter will work just fine. Have fun!

A fellow member approached me with the set. He was trading up to an '09 and pulled these off his previous 997.

I paid $434 shipped. The coating he had done was $250 alone.

New, I believe, these go for $600 +

For reference, part numbers are : 997.111.105.00 and 997.111.106.00

Thank you for the tips on the universal socket. Will post up on the install with pics soon.

......................anyone know the torque specs for the header bolts ?

Nice. Thanks Lakerholic. Need to check that site out more....seems to have much technical info.

Are you sure about the "coating"? I bought mine used, but they looked exactly like the pic that you posted and there was no mention about any "coating" when I bought them. Just curious.

HATTRICK Mar 18, 2009 05:17 AM

Yes....the seller provided the receipt confirming the finish had been applied. http://www.jet-hot.com/
