Gotta love those Leprechauns. Even packed the box with green stuffing....
X51 headers Thermal Coated with Sterling finish. Works of art they are. :D Any tips from the DIYers ? Looks to be a simple R&R. Just need to find the time and room in the garage. My thanks to Mr. O'Keefe in Minnesota for a seamless transaction. |
There is one bolt on either side, closest to the rear of the car that looks nearly impossible to get to, otherwise straight forward R&R.
I've read that if you have a universal joint adapter for your socket set or a flexible socket extension (http://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Socke.../dp/B00129IG7W) you should have no problems. GL, and they look great in that finish! |
Luck o' the Irish to ya, Hattie!
I think you made a good choice to get the X51s. Will keep your torque curve in the middle as well as improve your sound. I have equal-length as part of a full Milltek Sport system and it does move it up the dial (sounds great, though, and performance is remarkable higher up on the tach. Gotta say, though, I like that lower-end torque for daily driving. |
where did you get the header? price?
|
Have fun HAT. Update us when you start the swap. Love the garage btw.
|
I would also use new bolts and gaskets (recommended and cheap insurance). Like said above, a universal socket adapter will work just fine. Have fun!

I paid $434 shipped. The coating he had done was $250 alone. New, I believe, these go for $600 + For reference, part numbers are : 997.111.105.00 and 997.111.106.00 Thank you for the tips on the universal socket. Will post up on the install with pics soon. |
......................anyone know the torque specs for the header bolts ?

A fellow member approached me with the set. He was trading up to an '09 and pulled these off his previous 997.

Nice. Thanks Lakerholic. Need to check that site out more....seems to have much technical info.
|
Are you sure about the "coating"? I bought mine used, but they looked exactly like the pic that you posted and there was no mention about any "coating" when I bought them. Just curious.
|
Yes....the seller provided the receipt confirming the finish had been applied. http://www.jet-hot.com/
