What's your best Porsche experience?

I posted this in the vanity plate thread, but I thought it warranted a separate thread! I have only owned the 997 for a couple weeks, but I already have had some interesting 'experiences' in it! Below is what I posted in the other thread.

So, what's your best Porsche 'experience'? When was it? I get lots of 'thumbs up' from random guys, but I haven't been flashed yet! Here's to the future!

"So I went to the BMV today....and decided to compromise a little. I didn't want the standard plate and I didn't want to draw extra attention. So, I decided to upgrade to the Cleveland Indians license plate...but I let the computer pick out my number. It was funny, the computer picked the year I was born and the female clerks initials! She was in LOVE with the car...and gave me her phone number! She had to inspect the out of state VIN, so I let her sit in the car. I have NEVER seen such a big smile. She let me cut to the front of the line, and gave me the BEST customer service I have ever had at the BMV. She had apparently told the other female clerks about my car, and they all were smiling and saying 'hi'!

My dad has no idea why I would want a Porsche, when a Mustang Shelby or Z06 offers more HP for less money. It is official...there is NO substitute!!!

I'll play.
My best Porsche experience is having this guy be my co driver in a 2 hour enduro. He loved my vintage 911 racer. We would of won overall if I had a half gallon bigger fuel cell . He ran out of gas on his stint with 2 laps to go....in the overall lead.
It was a priceless moment.
If you do not know who that guy is, it is Factory Shoe- Patrick Long

Why so late, I get into mine and hit the road at 5:30, even less cars at that time.

My best moments are on the track, driving the car the way it was designed to be driven.

mine is the friendship's that i've made from being part of our local NW car groups. we have cars and coffee, drives, and other get togethers that have made owning a pcar an absolute blast. and of course, autoxing. every time i take "her" out on the course i have a grin from ear to ear.

just noticed....this is my 5,000th post and it's on a really cool thread!

My best experience was first test drive in a 911 .

At the time (1995) I had walked away from the price several times. I bought an M3 . It was one of the first in my area in 95 and car was a lemon . I walked out of Porsche again and wanted reliability and made the biggest car mistake of my life . I am ashamed to admit that i bought a Lexus . What an awful car. It was reliable. and BORING .

One month of the M3 led to 1 month of the Lexus .
And there I was still thinking about the Porsche .

I called a salesman and talked with him . He had two cars . I went there just to look . He handed me the key and said "drive it while I get your car appraised" .

I had never been to Champion before and did not know the area so I got lost . I came back with 50 miles extra on the car and the saleman (retired now) said "so are you going to buy the car " . During that 50 mile test drive in the 993 I looked at dash .. the five dials , the offset pedals , the rear engine ,,,, I was beaming with the experience . That car had so much history and still does as the 993 was the last air cooled 911 .

At the time it was a huge financial stretch to buy it but I did and within two years my circumstances improved and i bought the Turbo followed by more Porsches .. 8 in total .

But I never forgot my first test drive and what it meant to me .

DITTO.......!
No better feeling than personalizing your car.IMO it speaks volumes about your own personality!
I look back at the car everytime I close the door to go to work and KNOW why I am going to work!!

Also like BoxsterGirlie01,the friends I have made from 6speed....I know it sounds sappy but true...

no substitute for the two points above...!!

Yep, my experience was test driving a 993 with my dad when I was in HS. It was one of those "So this is what a real car is supposed to feel like" moments. Pretty much had my heart set on a 911 from that point on.

Ordered my 997 C4S in fellowship last year, flew into OHare last july and took a cab straight to the dealer and picked it up the same day I started my job.

Hah, that's almost exactly my story + about 13 years and some minor details. I had an E60 m5, e86 (?) M6, e46 m3 along with a lexus gs350. I always wanted the right car... I test drove a porsche, a 997.1 S and C4S (2008) and a couple used ones (2006/7). I was sold. However, I made a huge mistake and instead got the new e92 M3 right when they came out in April 2008. Huge mistake! I thought "well, the numbers sound better than the porsche, BMW's are nice I've had several, it's 2/3rds the price, etc etc". Honestly, my biggest gripe was Porsche dealers around here are for the most part aholes (newport porsche, walters, bev hills, dt la, etc).
I regretted that. I lost $15k in that transaction from buy to sell, and about 7 months later traded it for a '09 C4S. It was all by chance, was chilling in Palm Springs and ended up buying from Desert European. Those guys were super cool and made me a deal, wouldn't let me leave until I left with the P-car.
On my way home from Palm springs I took the CA-60 through Beaumont with the radio off. That was the best porsche experience I've had to date (about 4 months ago)

Getting a group of other Porsche together and doing 3 lap behind a pace car. Sweetness.

I was driving over to a friend's house one summer afternoon to drop off a copy of the local PCA magazine. On the way there I drove by 3 cute girls and one of them yelled out, "Nice car!" Not really expecting it, I just continued driving and ignored the comment.
After dropping the magazine off I took the same way back and the same 3 girls were now sitting on the grass, this time the same girl screamed, "I love you!"
I stuck my hand out the window and gave her a thumbs up, her 2 friends laugh and right away she goes, "I'll give you head!"
