thanks for help...08 m3 was the pick

went with used 08 m3 dct...thanks for all help....test drove the z06...just felt like it was built ****ty...and u should see the graphics on the nav..lol!....but def fast and light...thanks for everything

so i think i have some unbiased impressions-
1. m3 dct is def faster straight line than i was in my manual 09 cab. shifts are ridiculous.

2. there is no comparison in feel...PORSCHE is untouchable. maybe cause i grew up driving my dads..but i just feel so close with them...so responsive and nimble..just feels smaller...closer to the idea of the lotus elise/exige. Porsgrche feels like %100 sports car, low seating like ferrari and lambo. M3 much higher up takes getting used to, more like a car...taking me a lil getting used to, takes away confidence and feel.

3.dont discredit the m3...handling is amazing so far, havent been able to push it yet...got it yesterday...but sticks well...doesnt feel like it sticks like the porsche thou...but give me time. obiously better for everyday thou and is my first auto/manual box

4. So im sick of seeing all those stupid m3 vs c2s posts...there is no doubt if you want a strictly sports car get the C2S! It has its own feel and wont know till you own one. The P makes you feel like a race car driver...especially after i drove the gt3rs!

5. You guys are lucky cause if you look in some of the m3 forums its like..civil war...at least here its porsche vs m3...ect....in there its m3 manual vs dct...and they are talking sh@t...i wonder...

Congrats on the new car, the E92 M3 is a sweet car. A good friend of mine has one with the DCT and he likes it.

I am confused... you had a 911 cab but wanted a coupe. Looked around at Z06 and M3 and get M3, but you think the Porsche is better? see the bold emphasis on your post. Unless money was the issue why didn't you get the 911 coupe?

I'm guessing here:

Sometimes people need back seats.

I had an E46 M3 and it was a superb daily driver all year round. Handled blizzards in winter, bug splats in summer and did track days at HPDEs. It was a great GT car.

I love my 997. It has it's own "feel" and character to it, and feels more buttoned down. But for a family car the M3 is hard to beat.

I don't understand the Z06 being built "****ty." It's fast and light - what else should a sports car do? You say the C2S is a true sports car... and yet the Z06 is faster and ISN'T a sports car?

Congrats on the new car .

In the light of the circumstances and confusion I think you made the most sensible choice . The 08 M3 has depreciated enough to hedge some of the loss on yoir 09 Porsche and it is a great daily driver .

I give it 18 months before you are looking at porsches again but by then I think you will be more at ease with the Porsche you select and ready to enjoy it .

In the meantime you do have free service and nice car with some practical space .

nice car but I give it 6 months . I came from M6 to E92 M3 test drove a Carrera and it was over with BMW after only 8 months... I could only imagine if you came from a Carrera to the M3 it would only be worst.

As far as backseat space, definately a step up from the carrera. Although you will still have trouble getting anybody to sit back there, the real beauty lies in the full-size trunk space and the fold-down rear seats which allows for alot of storage overall.

Anyhow congrats and you owe it to the rest of us to drive the sh** out of the M3 and report back to finally put all these comparo's to rest!

Beautiful rides. I, too had a choice between the E92 M3 and the C4S I currently have. My prior DD was an E36 M3 and a 335i coupe. Although I never ran into any real problems with the 335i, there were just far too many horror stories with the high pressure fuel pump issues and how BMWNA dealt with the customers, that I just got completely turned away from BMW. I think their cars are great and would love to drive an E90 M3 as a DD, but the service and BMWNA just struck a wrong cord with me that I many never consider going back to them ever again. They've left so many 335i customers high and dry with issues beyond the customer's control.

Also have the M3 daily driver . Originally it was for my girlfriend but since her mileage commute is greater plus her job now has valet parking she uses the third car (civic Si ).

Sammy --you may decide to do this in the future . Buy a Turbo , mod it up to the hilt and preserve it for many years as a special car and use the M3 for groceries , the mall , going to the dentist .. etc where its sunjected to parking lots .

My Turbo is one year older than my M3 and has 5K miles less . (m3 has 13K)
