Couple G's to spend

I've done a lot already, mostly go, no show:
AH mufflers, SSK, Chip, Plenum, EVOMS CAI, v1, laser blinders, and I forget the rest. So far, it's all go, no show, so I will soon add an aero kit of some sort.

What do you think of my next mods to do in August:
-AWE cats (obvious choice given all the other "go" mods I have already
-Alcantara shifter & ebrake (suncoast steal of a deal for $599)
-GT3 OEM front bumper
-Techart sides
-Misha GT3 or GT2M wing

I am typically prone to performance mods, but lately, I want to add some "show" to my "go". Help me prioritize and get my head straight! And yes, I know that I should have gone straight for the SC long ago.

MHO's:

you dont want to f it up with a super charger. if boost is what you want, save for a turbo. MUCH better (boosted) package.

the techart sides look like . gives the car a bloated look.

i would do a full GT3 aero kit but for a 2k budget the awe and shifter alcantara stuff

Cattman Jul 31, 2009 08:25 PM

Yeah, I'm in a hole already in terms of sunk cost. The car has lost so much value at resale, that I think I will simply keep it "forever" and when I get too bored lease something else. Selling or trading at this point is an idiot's move.

In terms of sinking more cash into this wonderfully fulfilling depreciating asset, you feel like skirts suck, but the GT3 aero kit and the cats are the way to go? I just bought the alcantara interior bits, mostly as my shifter and ebrake are looking a bit haggard, although, at $600 it's quite a waste. Just can't stand anything not looking perfect, even on a 40k mile DD.

I'd go cats for sure especially since your factory warranty is about over. I've got the full AWE exhaust set-up coming from the original owner of my car (mufflers, headers, cats) and I'm going to put on the mufflers and headers only for now as I was told the cats could nullify the warranty.

If not the cats, I'd go GT3 front bumper. Gives the car a nice and agressive look. I'd go the skirts only if you did the front bumper. I think the car would look a little funny with skirts as the only exterior mod. Not sure I've actually ever seen a car that did skirts as the only exterior mod. In terms of the look of giving the car a bloated look, not sure as I have them on my car and I like the look. Not sure if it helps or hurts if the car is a C2 or a C4.

Is your car lowered at all? If not, I'd put springs or C.O.'s pretty high up the priority list.

+1 on the coil overs. its for looks and performance

Cattman Jul 31, 2009 08:43 PM

Thanks, Joe.

Cats were committed to about an hour ago, so that's a done deal. The alcantara interior bits were purchased, too, although I think it was a waste.

Definitely need to do the GT3 front and pair it with either GT3 wing or Misha GT2 wing.

Yep, I'd never do sides without a front and rear. Lowering is not something my car needs, for whatever reason it doesn't look like it needs it.

At this point, I gotta think I'm pretty much done. Other than an SC, not much more really possible, is there? Other than a great detail and a posting of pics. Red seat belts? It's a black on black 997S.

neither GT2 or GT3 models have side skirts. its a personal opinion but i think the techart sides stick out too much

JoeShark Jul 31, 2009 08:50 PM

I do have the red seat belts on my car (triple black cab). Looks good as it matches the brake calipers. HOWEVER, I only did it because the original owner had bought them and hadn't got around to putting them on and I had a good shop put them on for me for $150. If not, probably wouldn't have done them as I think Porsche charges an arm and a leg for them.

GT2's actually have very minor sides, OEM. Available for about $600 from suncoast. They're subtle. For the price, a waste. Maybe a nice gift for the guy who has everything, but other than that, I think I can skip it.

Leaning towards the OEM GT3 front bumper conversion from suncoast, and the Misha GT2 rear wing.

Do a GT3 front, no side panels and a TA III rear wing.

Disagree with what you say about the supercharger...I have one and wouldn't do it any other way.
However I do agree with the techart bit...they do fit great BUT do make the car look bloated!
They seem to take away from the 'Booty' that these cars have, which is why I sold my Techart kit and built my own!
Cattman you are surely due to supercharge it and you know it!
However with a couple G budget may be tough!
I may know of a charger forsale if you do decide to UP your budget!

Did you get Bara's cats? I would get Bara's cats and the rest of it for the X51 headers.

boosting an engine not designed for boost is a no no in my book. you WILL affect its reliability/longevity.

all supercharger designs are inferior to turbo even if you did build yourself an engine.

TT's are coming way down in price. and you get a wide sexy body to boot

just some of the reasons...

so i respectfully agree to disagree

its a piece of black molding that is hardly noticible but the techart piece is quite substancial. i know what you mean though
