Has Anyone Installed Just the AWE Mufflers (no CATS/CANS)?

I just picked up a 2006 Carrera S yesterday and know it'll be the first of many 911s as the years go on...WOW. I'm looking for an improvement in the exhaust sound, but don't keep cars long enough to justify really expensive mods like the full AWE system. I was thinking I could get the benefit of a sound improvement with the AWE mufflers for around $1500 installed. I'd rather not spend more than this on the exhaust and I don't really care about performance gains, as I came out of a soft M-B SL550 and this stock 'S' is already like an amusement park ride to me. Thanks in advance!

I had the AWE mufflers when I bought my 06 C2S, I really like them, they're not what I'd call quiet but they have a fantastic sound when you get the revs up whilst still being reasonably civil at cruising speeds.

There are a few good videos on youtube of people who have the AWE mufflers.

I just replaced my PSE (broken welds - not covered by CPO warranty ) with the AWE cats + catback mufflers.

To be honest - I'm disappointed in the sound. Not as aggressive or throaty as PSE
.

I had the AWE cans on before I did the X51 headers and cats. The AWE cans were to tame..the car had some deepness below 4krpm above 4k rpm I thought the car was just marginally better. When I did the cats the whole car changed for the better. You can do an exhaust on the cheap..skip the mufflers and get some cats and X51 headers. It will sound much better even with the OEM mufflers and you will actually get a bump in horsepower.

If you just want to change mufflers then Tubi is the way to go. They're designed to be used with the stock cats and to sound their best that way. Stock quiet at cruise and in the parking lot. INSANE at WOT! The perfect combination.

Edit: And they're a lot lighter than stock too....
