20's on a 2006 997 C2S

Anyone have 20's on there 997 C2S? Any issues, should I just stay away from 20's? Lookin to purchase 20inch champion wheels.

I would stay away. Very rough ride with very low profile

Not recommended. Get good 19" rims instead.

Where I live, 19" wheels are pushing it already.

Personally Im getting 20s, many people here say STAY AWAY, Ive seen 20s on Carreras and it looks , 20s deff look better , but 19s are just as nice. If your worried about ride/comfort stick with 19s, if you dont mind it being a bit harsh I say defffff get 20s, youll be happy regaurdless the size, aftermarket wheels look drop dead gorgeous on the carreras...Enjoy

I had 20s. Wasn't THAT bad. Went to 19s. Now, I ride 18s. Dope bomb, IMHO.

20's are fine, I know lots of guys that run 20's with no issues. If it were me, I would go with 19's or 18's if you plan to track a lot.

I have 20's on my 06 C2S and they are great. No issues what so ever. They look much better than my 19's, they fill out the wheel wheels. Almost looks lowered.

Now you're talkin'. Can you tell me what size tires do you have on the 18's (that have equivalent diameter and width (or greater)) to the oem's?

If you read the history of 997 developement you will find that Porsche had to redesign the body, chassis, and suspension to accomodate the larger 19" wheels. During early testing the larger wheels destroyed the first running protypes. Reference page 332 of "Porsche 911 Perfection by Design" Randy Leffingwell.

Thanks for all the input. I have Techart 19's on now and a buddy of mine is getting rid of his turbo so I was thinking about buying his wheels off of him. I don't track the car just everyday use.

Wouldn't do it any other way....fit my needs and visuals perfectly!

performance aside]

aesthetically, the body of the 997 is too small for a 20" wheel and the car then becomes more about its wheels than the car itself. at times even the 19's look to be pushing it size wise.

you dont want a beautiful car like the 997 defined by the wheels its riding on. the wheels should add to the look, not become its focus.

an extreme example but this is the direction you'd be going with 20's
