Wheel width experise needed... Please correct my calculations

Been searching the threads all morning. Hoping someone can give me a definitive answer.

997.2 C2

Stock 19" (f)
8J x 19
235/35/19

Stock 19" (r)
11J x 19
295/30/19

Going to tirerack.com, searching for 19" wheels, looking at OZ Ultraleggera's matching wheel/tire set:

(f)
8.5J x 19
235/35/19 (this matches stock)

(r)
11J x 19
265/35/19 (this does not match stock 295/30/19, which is ok but...)

Going to http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp,
  • 265/35/19 (r) should fit with wheels from 9"-10.5" (not the 11" tirerack is suggesting)
Why would tirerack suggest recommended size of 265/35/19 for 11J wheel, if the recommended size width for 265/35/19 is up to 10.5J (per 1010tires.com)?

Will the suggested 11J width be too wide for the 265?

Would it be better to stay with stock and go 295/30/19 (r) for the 11J wheel?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely don't use a 265 tire on an 11" wheel. I'd call tire rack to confirm what the specs are on the wheel, and why they recommend such a small tire size. My guess is that they'll tell you it's a mistake, and that you should use 295 wide tires.

Great looking wheels, btw - post some pics after you get them.

Thanks for the quick feedback, P Diddy! Glad to know I wasn't way off.

Funny, I changed the car configuration to Carrera S, and the correct recommended size of 295/30/19 show up. I don't think there's a difference in OEM wheel/tire size between S and non-S? Strange.

Either case I'll probably order those wheels (53mm offset (f) and 50mm offset (r)) with the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS then post pics. Thanks again!

I would also recommend wheels that fit, no more than 55mm offset in the rear on an 11" wide wheel for most people. Some people do use wheels with an offset as low as 51mm however it is right at the limit of the fender and too aggressive of a look for some people. Use your stock 18" wheels with proper winter tires for the winter months if you need to.

Hi Alan - input very much apprecaited!
Here is where I got the idea for 50mm offset:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...t-spacers.html

I definitely prefer the aggressive look, however, safety is first priority, so thank you for pointing out your concern.

Would you mind taking a look at that thread and let me know if I should just stick with the 65mm (perhaps with 10mm spacer?). Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Edwin

I have no idea why our system shows a 265 for an 11" wheel. It isn't correct and I'll have it looked into. 295 is the better size. For some of the 911 models, our system will show only snow fitments for customers requesting less than stock 19" sizes. I suspect this is where the hangup is. 18 x 10 would take a 265/40 and 11" would be the 295.

Please call me if I can assist. Sorry for the confusion.
