Haters

Upon walking to my car last night there were two gurus smoking cigs outside my least favorite bar in town. They were talking cars and one guy was clearly hating on mine. The guy says to his buddy, "you test drive that and then a Corvette or M3 and you won't go back to a 911. Those have the crappiest ride and are way overpriced." I think he was making sure that I was within earshot of his comments to get a reaction out of me. It's not like me to keep quiet and I was kinda tempted to get in his face. But then I was like "not going to do that, it would be ridiculous".

So I started her up with my new Gundo hacked mufflers and took off with a nice smile on my face.

What is it with these haters ? Sure, Corvettes and M3's are great cars but is it necessary to hate like that ? I mean, 911's have been around for 45+ years for a reason, and they are raced for a reason. Vettes and M3's have also been around a long time and they're also raced. I just don't see the point of hating like that.

I will say though, I get far more compliments than otherwise, and it's always really cool. Anybody got any hater stories ?

My only recommendtion is to stop paying attention to what other people may say/think. Who cares? We are all adults here and only people whose opinion about own actions and decisions matters to us are ourselves. ;)
Be selfish and ignorant - it helps to prosper in life big time. hilarious

when I was a teen and into my late 20's I drove Corvettes. I finally woke up and realized how poorly they were buitl and how bad the Chevy dealer service was for a car at that price. Although they say they are better than ever now, all I see driving them are old guys or their wives; nothing wrong with getting older(I'm late 40s myself!) but I think they are getting the buyers who always wanted one back in the day and now can buy one or the few young guys who just want raw power and no style/class. Again, this coming from a guy that owned 4 of them years ago. Oh and the ride in a Corvette? Never felt a worse ride than those I had; they would shake your drink out of a holder if you hit a bump. The leather? Finish often wore off within a year of new. On and on it went....

A friend of mine bought a 09 corvette some time ago and I took it for a test drive earlier this week. It felt like it was a little bit faster than my 997.1S, but the rest of the car just felt so cheap, the seats where junk, the steering felt disconnected, sloppy gearbox, nasty clutch and the roof in the car made really loud annoying cracking noises.. Would never ever trade it for my Porsche.

Perfect response! - Let them think what they want... You're taking her home and they are just jealous. Period.

Were on a role, here Pavel!

I have to agree, who cares. Let them buy a Vette or a M3, they need to sell cars too

I owned a Vette in my 20s as well. The ONLY thing I liked about it a lot was the sound of the V8 and the way the car did a little side to side shimmy when you were stopped at a light. However, I bought it new and I was in the shop for something or other every two or three weeks. The car was junk, but it was very fast and it felt dangerous b/c that back end loved to whip around on you. I get the appeal, but in my opinion, in most every area, it can't touch a Porsche. Regarding haters, I did have a maintenance guy say to me "you sold your M3 for a Porsche?" then go on to tell me he hopes to buy an older M3 some day. He didn't understand how I could sell and M3 to get my 911.

What is a guru?

What is a cig?

If it is your least favorite bar in town, why are you there?

Interesting you mention the guy was suckin on a stogie..... Very similar experience few months ago outside a StarBucks. Few of my friends were meeting there before a bike ride. I pull up in the Ducati, my friends in their Buell's. The guy proceeds to say "What, the Harley shop was closed today". This is coming from some guy, slouched down in the chair smokin a stogie.......

My brain was thinking "Why, do I look like I need parts?"....but just kept my trap shut. Long-story-short, seems that there fools like that everywhere, and many with an open opinion. They just need to keep it to themselves.

The very first day I got my car I arrived back in town and went straight to my parents house so they could check it out. We're out front, my p's are checking out the car, and two kids on bikes go by. One of them says to the other "my cousin's mustang would s*** all over that thing". This was the first and last time I've heard anyone say anything negative about the car...but I can feel it all around me when I drive. For some reason it just feels like people love to hate a Porsche....unless they like Porsche.

for every great thing in this world there will always be haters. some men don't like big tits - go figure

let them be and accept their indirect flattery.

Or my favorite, "What kept you from buyin' American?" Of course I don't have nearly the time it would take to go down that list...
