997 C4 - it's coming
Carrera 4S identity confirmed
Wednesday 19th January Alleged Porsche statements shown to be incorrect Following PistonHeads's spy shot story revealing the new 997 Carrera 4S, we now have a photo of a wheel of the P-car we snapped inscribed "Carrera 4S", and the following further details: the car is registered to Porsche the pics were taken within a 30 minute drive of Porsche's HQ the photographer had a good look under the car and established it is 4 wheel drive interior and brakes were typical for an S it's not the new GT3 (totally standard interior including rear seats) it's not the new turbo, because there weren't any side air intakes and no turbocharger the photographer had to run away because the driver of the car wasn't amused when he saw him with a camera! http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/9747-120644-1.jpg |
hmmm..........
Is this a new Carrera 4S? http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/9737-103716-4.jpg http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/9737-103716-3.jpg http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/9737-103716-2.jpg http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/9737-103716-1.jpg Sources say that the 355bhp Porsche Carrera 4S will cost £69,000 compared to the rear-wheel drive Carrera S price of £65,000. The Aerokit will cost an additional £3,000, and both will be unveiled at the Frankfurt show, which starts on 17 September 2005. |

I like it.
Me likey.
No Aerokit until September of 2005? That sucks!
I like it! I am sure tuners will come out with very good looking mods! :)
Are the rear fenders wider than, or the same as, a 997S /non S 997?
The centercap says 'carrera 4', as any c4 does, not '4S'. This is not a wide body, I would expect the C4S to be such(always are). I think this is a c4 being tested either with an aerokit(minus skirts) or using such as cammo. This is no GT3 with a backseat and sunroof!
That is a really weird way to park a car, half of it is on the curb and half off, can't be too good for the underside. :(
"Weird parking" That's what you often have to do in Europe where the streets are narrow and you have cars parked on both sides of the street. In some countries it's illegal, but often you have no choice unless you're happy replacing wing mirrors and getting bodywork resprayed...
It shouldn't damage the car though and I'm sure Porsche engineers take this into account when designing cars. |
TT is next :D
