CPO question
CPO question
Looking at a used 07 C4S with 28k from a Porsche dealer however it does not have CPO. I noticed in the service record, a Porsche certification shows up but the car itself is not CPO and i cant tell what this means.
Carfax, looks great and the DME scan has no content beyond stage 2. Is up to date on service and had a serpentine belt replaced at 25k.
The car has only 4 months left on the factory warranty and was wondering by not having the CPO, if its worth it. (the vehicle is priced at 59K)

Ask them to CPO the car. It will cost you another 2k (maybe more) but is well worth it as aftermarket warranties are way more.
As for the price I am sure a certain person will be along to tell you in a bit.
yrralis1 are you there???

Does the CPO just identify/diagnose things for the new owner that require attention, or is the dealer required to fix everything that the CPO finds before selling the car? If they are requried to fix it, then it could be a very good deal indeed to have them CPO the car.
They are required to fix anything that is wrong, to a degree. If the issue is cosmetic or mostly cosmetic they will leave it. But once the car is CPO you have full factory warranty for an addition 2 years from date of purchase. This came in very handy for me recently, i am SOOOOOO glad I bought mine CPO.
Yes, there is a checklist that the dealer performs on the car, and anything that doesn't pass is required to be fixed/addressed by the dealer before it can be certified.
Once it is certified the original warranty is extended for 2 additional years and up to 100,000 miles.

typically, if the CPO is in the maint records, the inspection has been done and they only need to bill the customer (or add it to the price) to certify it.
very well worth the money.
IIRC, the dealership can bill porsche for doing the inspection which is why it's already been done. OR, the sales dept wants to ensure the car will pass the CPO inspection so that they can offer it
