Nitto NT-01's- 235/40/18 (F) - 315/30/18 (R) - Thoughts?

Looking to get a dedicated 18" track tire/wheel set- dry traction, wear and cost are important considerations; noise and wet performance are not. What do you guys think about getting the Nitto's with this configuration- 235/40/18 (front) and 315/30/18 (rear)? The rear diameter is still a little larger than the fronts but the difference is not as great as with the stock 19" MPSC's. Thanks as always for your help!

Wrong size for a 997 based car. 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 are the same diameter as stock 19's. This is the size I use in either Toyo RA1 or R888. I've been told I cod use a shorter diameter of 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 but I was talked out of this size by a few tire people for a 997 based car.

I would stick with RA1 or 888's over the NT01. They provide better grip and consistency in the track. Also side wall flex are less apparent.

I run 245/35/18 and 315/30/18. Mdrums tire sizing is more ideal, but not available in all tire brands.

Thanks guys- just ordered 2 sets of Toyo RA-1s' today in 245/40/18's and 305/35/18's from tiresdirect.net - hopefully they come in as promised!

Get them shaved for best results!

Get them shaved to 5/32'nds and check the beads for dry rot...these are 3-4 year old tires. I bought a set back in February from Tiresirect that did not last too long. Tires Direct 5 days ago were out of 245-40-18 RA1's. I just got a set of R888's from tires direct with manufacture dates of 2010.

See my post about this over on rennlist.com de & racers forum.
