TUBI Exhaust DIY for a 997 C2S?

I am wanting to install an aftermarket exhaust and it came down to a Gundo hack and TUBI.

I am searching the forum for a detailed DIY for a TUBI, can't find really any.

Has anyone read somewhere about installing it as a DIY?

Does anyone know if you have to remove the bumper for installation?

Really appreciate it.

You got ALL the tools and lots of PATIENCE.
Then go do it.
I just installed a fabspeed X pipe and that was tough.
my 2 cents worth.
enjoy, great exhaust system

I'll see if I can find the DIY posts regarding this, but I can tell you that with the 997.1, I would highly recommend removing the rear bumper. I'm not sure it's even possible to install without removing it, but I can say from experience, removing and reinstalling the rear bumper was the easiest step by far!

I installed my Tubi exhaust myself . . . in my garage on race deck ramps.

Not difficult at all. Took about 2.5 hours and I was very patient, diligent, and careful. My car only had 5K miles on it.

DEFINITELY do not need to remove the rear bumper and (sorry aircooled, I respect your experience but disagree) I recommend against. I don't see any advantage to this, and you could possibly scrape the bumper while removed or have difficulty in getting it aligned perfectfly upon re-installation. Aircooled says it is easy to do and he would know. But it is not required and I don't see how it would make it that much easier.

Man, I took pics and said I would make a DIY thread for the Tubi on a 997.1. But then my life got pretty busy. I don't have the pics anymore . . .

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Or I'll give ya my number and we can talk on the phone.

Good luck

If it requires patience, thats all I have.

I am about 5 hrs from Dallas and I will miss work if I were to go there unscheduled.

I have seen the undercarriage and it seems to be pretty easy to uninstall the stock exhaust, but I need to read a DIY so that I know what tools to ready.

I did my first DIY and installed the Mobridge BT + Ipod kit and very happy with the results.

If only I could get my hands on it.

A week before you do the install get under the car and spray a good penetrating lube on all of the associated nuts and bolts. I did mine twice and a couple were still hard to get off the exhaust.

A lot of people recommended this. ^ Sounds like very good advice.

I didn't do this and it wasn't necessary on my car, because there were only 5K miles and the car had never been wet (other than for car washes).

But certainly good advice IMO.
