From what I have read it's mostly about having the uber expensive tools...
|
Center Locks have got to be a total PITA.

That first one was a new one for me. Good stuff. I'm about to take my first crack at them.
Thanks! |

Thanks for the post of your tool set.
The PI torque wrench is nice - made in USA and reasonably priced. I am going for the same set-up. |

Finally removed the wheels. Got a demo of the process at my dealership. I could not budge the CL bolt on the first attempt. The 'unknown' made it a bit daunting, when I could not get it to move. It took a neighbor and I to push the breaker bar on the first one. The other three all went smoothly, solo. It was rewarding to "get it done". I rather like them now. All the forum posts really made it possible. Special thanks to "Clifton" on RL. His step of jiggling the locking pin with a hex tool was huge. I would have thought I had done it all wrong without knowing that. His pics are attached.
Thank you all. |

Thank you all. Q: How critical is the 3R Racing Centerlock wheel Hub alignment tool ? Uber expensive, but looks like a nice chunk 'o Al |

unclejosh,
As you know the 3R tool is basically an insurance device. To prevent damage to the ceramics. The Tech at my dealership was very glad to see I had one. He used a similar tool. When Suncoast charges: PCCB Front Rotor Set Code: 99735103196AND99735103296 Price: $9,300.00 $350 seems kind of reasonable. Perhaps you will not remove the wheels all that often, and could carefully manage without one. I found it gave me peace of mind.. The tool eliminates one opportunity to damage. |
