My dream car...
My dream car...
.. has changed.
For too long to remember I've had my eye on an Audi R8. I always said that '"..if I hit the big one, I'm buying a R8.."
After nearly a year of 911 ownership, I've realized that I'm already driving my dream car. I can't believe that I own the car (ok the bank owns it, for now). It's expensive, but affordable if you're not overspending in other areas, it's as reliable as anything on the road, and it's more fun to drive than anything I've ever driven.
I will admit, that "... if I hit the big one..." I'll buy another Porsche.. or two, or three.. Probably a GTS or a Turbo S.. or both, one a coupe and one a cab. Meanwhile I'm very content driving my base Carrera.
Just getting that off my chest..

I was thinking about this post tonight while watching CNN to see if I have a paying job Monday.
When we first brought home our 997, I would spend hours in the garage just sitting in the car listening to the radio, smelling the new leather, and staring at the backlit tach. I would honestly at night just sit out there with the parking lights on with a glass of wine in my hands. Silly, really, now that i look back on it. But, it really was a beautiful period of time for me.
My Dad had a 944 when I was 15 and it took me 24 years to finally get my own and I now can't imagine not having that car. My two boys almost define themselves by having a dad with a P-car; love to go for drives in it, when we are on the road they ask if this or that car can "take us", play with model cars that look like it, love to have me take their friends in it to baseball practice or whatever, etc.
My wife now loves to Autocross; something she never even talked about during our first 12 years of marriage. Our once bare garage is now painted, floors sealed, and all forms of Porsche art hangs on the walls. On a vacation to Europe last year we drove a hundred miles out of our way to visit the Porsche Museum. And, washing cars has again become a fun Saturday activity for the family.
Yeah, I guess it is just a silly car.

Awesome! I feel the same way. I always thought that owning a Ferrari or Lambo would be the ultimate dream, but I love my Porsche; I love the Brand and its heritage; and now with the S/C installed, I love to find any excuse to take it out for a spin! I am living the dream. If I'm able to afford another addition, it will be another Porsche!

I never had considered venturing out of Porsche until I found out that my local dealership was selected as an authorized Mclaren dealership .

I hear that the base price on the Mclaren is 231K and most of the options are included .

I think I would still take the original F1 over the new car. The new car, while great, just does not have the drama the F1 does...even today. I guess another good analogy for me would be an F40 versus an F458. If I had to have one sitting in my garage I would take the F40 everytime.
