Best Lowering Springs?

Hey guys,
About to get a GTS without the sports suspension. I did not get to order it. It has everything else that I want minus that...so...

What are the best lowering springs for a 997.2 GTS?

REGARDS

I am in the same boat as the GTS cab was not offered with the lower suspension. I believe Eibach and Techart are the top 2 choices, then H&R which drops the car a little lower.

Springs are a compromise....

The ride with H&R springs was bloody awful on my 997.1, although it's better supposedly with PASM which I'm sure the GTS has. I sold the H&R springs after about 3 weeks for $100 on eBay....( I almost just threw them out in recycle) and i purchased and put on the Bilstein Coilovers and am delighted every day. They are adjustable for height and stiffness, plus I had the car corner balanced.

You've spent all that money on a nice new GTS, don't get cheap on the suspension, there's nothing worse than a choppy ride. You won't ever regret the PSS10's. Do it!

the H&R for a C4S which is the same body, is not released yet. Supposed to be apr-may. Contact dealers to get latest. I think they are as good or better than any. I would also check ROW porsche springs for C4S as the sport suspension option. This may be the same for the us sport suspension option. Only others available is techart and I would chose them last.

I have to back what you are saying. There is no second thought when it comes to comparing just springs to coilover suspension. Infinite adjustment is everything to car of this nature, Porsche and the like. Factory Springs are the same rate. Porsche delivers ROW ride heights based off of same spec spring rates. They test, measure, install and measure again before shipping. It's like baking a cake from the same recipe. Each and every time it goes out, it is the same, plus or minus minute centimeters.

Some will say that they are pleased with basic springs, but they only lack the knowledge of what the alternative is.

The only way you can achieve the performance that will deliver what YOU want, each and every time, is by choosing threaded-bodied coilover springs.

Techart seems to be the best option for the springs, according to some reports those are the ones who keep the ride confort next to the factory springs but can lower the car a bit.

a ROW spring is the height porsche designed the car to be. It is what every car they sell has in it. EXCEPT in the USA which has to ride higher because of DOT regulations on the bumper height.
So its the us cars that have been modified. they have been raised with taller springs.
We dont know exactly how much or what height all the row cars are unless you go find one and look or measure it. So you dont know exactly what you will get with the row spring. But you do know if you buy the row car spring with the sport suspension option it will be the lowest porsche offers for that car
Figure it will be simular to the H&R because they are the origional equip manufacturer for porsche. about 10mm front, 20mm rear

The Sport PASM is more than just lowering springs. The shocks, springs and sway bars are different than the higher and softer riding regualr PASM. It is a complete package. Using just lowering springs you will void you suspension warranty on your new car plus take the change of blowing out the stock shocks and having a car that rides and handles like crap.

Get the GTS with Sport PASM and you will be more than happy...totally ecstatic!

the h&r and porsche row spring is replacable on the pasm shock. do not have to change shocks. My dealer will do the job and the warrantee is not effected.

ofcourse, the coils would be better way to go..

but since u asked about springs, my vote goes to eibach.

i've read of more problems associated with H&R.. and Techart is an over-priced version of Eibach from what i hear..

my car has 30k miles so i am waiting for time to replace shocks before i switch to coils.. for now i am running Eibach Sport with PASM.. not too bad, IMO.

Congrats on a GTS and BOL

Warranty is NOT with your dealer. Warranty is with PCNA. Dealers will do these type of mod's but ultimatly the warranty is void if you blow a shock. If the dealer will put it in writing that they will replace blown shocks and/or guarentee ride and hendling then go for it but I bet they will not and I bet you that if you have shock issues or other suspension issues they will have the PCNA Zone Rep look at the car and he will void the waranty due to non-approved parts.

On the other hand I've been in a lot of cars at DE's with lowering springs and have not witnessed any issues.
