Lowered 997's

Quick question, I'm looking at a 997 with Eibach/Techart Springs (1.5 inches lower) and was told that having it set that low causes quicker tire wear than if it were set at stock height...is that accurate? If so, anyone know how much quicker tires go out on a lowered 911 than stock?

That is not correct, as long as you maintain your car's alignment and camber close to stock specs, you shouldnt have any problem with increased tire wear.

if you dont get an alignment after spring install, you'll get inner camber wear which will cause tires to wear out quicker. once you get an alignment that problem will be solved.

The 911 has a relatively limited amount of camber adjustment available. Lowering the car will increase the negative camber, causing the car to "ride" the inside of the tires. If you lower the car you want to realign it to bring the camber settings back to stock. However. If the car is lowered significantly (and to my mind 1.5" is significant) it might not be possible to get all the way back to a stock setting with additional suspension modifications.

I'm afraid I only know enough about this to raise the issue - I can't tell you with any certainty if that 1.5" drop will exceed the suspension's adjustment range.

(I'm having the opposite problem with my GTS. I want additional negative camber for track usage, and I've had the alignment adjusted to max out the neg camber. I need more, at least in front, and it'll take significant modifications to get there.)
