Can't shift into reverse!
Hey guys, my 2005 997 3.6L has a problem. I've been having more and more trouble shifting into reverse. This started about a week ago. All other gears are fine, and the gearbox is otherwise silky smooth. No grinding, etc. Clutch action is smooth and appropriately firm.
I started with the obvious stuff - going into other gears first to synchronize, holding down the clutch for a couple of seconds before shifting, creeping forward a foot or two before trying reverse, etc. Those worked for a few days, but today it absolutely would not budge into reverse even after several minutes of coaxing. Had to literally Fred Flintstone the car back out of the parking spot I was in. You go over to the left, try to go up, get about half of the normal throw length, then it's like it hits a brick wall. Before I call in the cavalry and have the car trucked two hours to Memphis (it's under CPO warranty), I'm taking it over to my local indy shop tomorrow to see if perhaps it's a simple fix. Any ideas? |
May just need cable readjusted, Porsche has a bulletin on reverse not engaging.
