My new (to me) '06 997S
In a span of less than 2 weeks I sold my '87 911 and picked up this '06 997S. I owned the '87 for over 9 years as it was my first. But over time I got tired of the lack of low end torque and the lack of creature comforts that prevented me, from say, going out to dinner on a hot summer evening. My plan was to sell the '87 and begin what I thought would be a months long search for my 997. I joined PCA so I could get the Panorama magazine and browse the for sale ads and I had been scanning Porsche ads for over a year knowing I would be in a position to buy this year. But right after I sold the '87 I heard of an '06 997S for sale locally. It was an S which was nice and it had the options I wanted (6 speed, full leather, sport chrono, 3 spoke leather wheel, Carrara white, sand beige interior etc). I arranged a test drive the next Saturday morning. Of course I was nervous with anticipation as I had never driven a newer 911.
My first impression after driving it was how tight it felt -- the steering, controls, acceleration, everything. I took it out on the interstate so see what it could do and was blown away by the amount of low end torque. It wants to go fast and it wants to go fast right now! I knew I would have to put an offer in on this car after only a few minutes of driving.
Some background: the only owner before me was an elderly gentleman who owned a warehouse of cars. He loves 911s and kept the car absolutely immaculate. It only had 11,600 miles and he kept it in showroom condition. He added satellite radio, clear bra and super sprint exhaust. The PPI came back clean and the DME readout showed very few revs in range 3 and none above. I think this was one of the nicest '06 997S models for sale in the country.

Let me be the first one here to say congratulations!!! I happen to also own an '87 911 (in Grand Prix White) and a 2006 Carrera S so I know what it is like to have both. I know you'll love the car as it is fantastic! The color combination is very nice as I really like the 911, regardless of vintage, in white. I should have ordered mine that way. Enjoy in good health!
