Clarkson wanna be, get your own knocks on the 911. Nothing she said is creative or original...perhaps she use to work for C&D and likes BMW's the most :)

Interesting ... my wife and I were sharing our 911S cab, but I decided I didn't want to share it anymore, so she picked a Cayman R as her DD (and my track car). She much prefers the way the Cayman drives, though she likes the 911 too. I still prefer the 911, but time will tell if that changes.

Maybe we could say the 911 is more "challenging" but not everyone is up for the challenge.

Brits have a innate tendency to hate anything out of Germany excluding Mercs, not just basing that on Clarkson, know quite a few Brits and they think Porsches and BMs are for "tossers", "****s", and "wankers". So ill chalk it mostly to that. I would say shes a woman and doesnt know anything, but I think Sabine Schmitz wouldnt like that. Maybe they should get together and she can show her how to drive...

The article is her very biased and unsubstantiated opinion, therefore it is worth only as much as her biased and unsubstantiated opinion - nothing. At least she is not shy about displaying her poor abilities to write articles.

Being a person that actually went from a Boxster to a Cayman S to a 997s - I can honestly say the 997s is a better driving experience.

Could you expand on why you feel that way? I'm not disagreeing with you - just curious.

Sure, please keep in mind my point of view is from an everyday enthusiasts' perspective, not a Lemans or even track day driver.

The Boxster felt underpowered (granted mine was not an S), had serious visibility issues (side blind spots and rear) when the top was up, and persistent rattles in the softtop that neither myself nor numerous dealers could fix.

The Cayman S also felt a bit underpowered, the engine (being right behind you in the hatch) was incredibly loud, the brakes squeaked like a 70's VW (dealer said it was normal, just to brake really hard), and the ride was noticeable harsher. Also, there was a persistent rattle in the hatch (various dealers and myself tried all the forum remedies, trunk clunk fix, brake light, etc. etc. and it could not be fixed). In fact, it became so annoying I think it was the main reason I traded it in. I had felt, black tape, and lube everywhere in the hatch.

My current car - the 997.1s has more power, a smoother ride (PASM perhaps), better sounding Bose than both the Cayman and Boxster Bose (perhaps better placement of rear speakers), much better side and rear visibility, more storage space (back seats for when you need it), more responsive brakes, much better engine sound, and no rattles. It is noticeably quieter in the cabin. I also like having a sunroof and easy access to the engine. I do think the Cayman handled slightly better, but for jaunts on local roads and the freeway, the Carrera is a much more enjoyable car for me.
