WOW! ROTtec 997.1 DRL LED's

1 Attachment(s)
Ray installed my DRL on my car this past Saturday. The quality and workmanship of the product appears to be first quality. The light assembly housing latching mechanism is flawless. I installed the Dectane DRL module and the whole system works perfectly. The front and rear LED lights make a dramatic improvment to modernize my 997.
Ray runs a first class operation and I am very impressed with his professionalism.

Well done! Did you have to splice the Dectane DRL wirings to allow it to reach the lights?

///M Kevin Dec 5, 2011 10:51 PM

How long did it take to install?

Ray Dec 5, 2011 11:38 PM

pleasure to work on your car and glad to hear you enjoy the LEDs!

You only have 2 choices: 1-Splice the module into the OEM wiring per the instructions I provided, this way you get true DRL function but your foglights still work as OEM foglights when you turn that switch on. 2-Wire the DRL module direct to the lower row of LED's/foglight position. This will give you DRL function but you will lose normal foglight operation.

If you use T taps you arent damagimg the wiring so if you ever want to remove the hook it can be done in 5 minutes.

Looks great, cant wait for mine to show up. I'm curious, did Ray get you the DRL module that turns on by sensing the voltage shift or the one where you hard wire to an ignition switched 12v source?

Hey Ray, don't I at least get a free hat or something for figuring out the DRL module install for you? :D You could just throw it in with my DRL shipment that hopefully is coming soon.................

I wonder how it would look to smoke the top section of the lights so it appears to look like a strip of leds.

sideWays_swe Dec 6, 2011 12:21 PM

are they difficult to install? A vid or diy guide would be great! :)

Install instruction can be found on your 997 owner's manual

Carrera manual page 303
GT3 manual page 223

Hi TT2911,
Pardon my stupid questions:
1) Do I need 1 or 2 Dectane DRL modules ( i.e. 1 for each left and right)?

2) What is a T-tap? Appreciate if you can post/PM a picture

Thanks!

You only need 1 module. Just go to Home Depot and tell the guy you want a crimp connector that will allow you to tap onto a 14ga wire. They will probably be blue and cost you about $4 for a package of 8.
