What's the most popular mod for 997?
1 Attachment(s)
Would love to find out what the most popular mod is for our cars.
Aftermarket Exhaust, Gundo Hack, body kit, clear side markers, LED Lights, Wheels & suspension, paint protection, any other? Also, big thanks to Slick911 for taking the time to meet up & compare our vehicles. I finally heard his Gundo Hack in person & was very impressed. I also liked the way his full LED rear lights look. I gotta have the Paddle shift steering wheel upgrade, too. We both have the X pipe installed, but I'm definitely suffering from a serious case of Gundo Hack Envy:D. His car is Basalt Black on the left & it's lowered. So many mods to do, so little time. |
for 997.1 would say x51 header. make the best bang for the buck.

Absolutely clear side markers.... There only $30

never thought i would say this, but this is the first time the oval tips look better than the dual round tips.

I'd agree here. Probably one of the very first things most people do. |
Trophy wife!

Messing around with the rear badging is popular too...I'd say right behind the clear side markers. Because it's easy and cheap. However, clear bra is probably number one...as most people have that done the first few hours of ownership for fear of a chip/scratch, etc.

1: lighten your weight at the corners.. i.e. lower your unsprung weight.. by getting lighter wheels. 2: drop your center gravity by lowering your car with proven coilovers (preferred) or springs. 3: improve your airflow, weight and sound with exhaust (muffler / cats / headers) and intake (plenum / CAI / filter) 4: tie it all together with a ECU tune keep in mind tho, NA cars only have limited power potential. Even with the $$ you spend above, u may only get slight increase in performance. Only way to get some power is S/C or turbo. ;) everyone at 6speed knows that my vote goes to lowering the unsprung weight. hilarious best bang for your buck ! ioh yeah.. there are also lots of cosmetic mods u can do to personalize your car, too ! and this is great for 997.2 IMO http://sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=193 BOL |
Lots of great advice on this forum; I think it comes down to whether you want a DD/weekend driver/track assassin. For me a [good] Gundo (or something thereto) will be #1; lots of applicability across driving 'intentions'.

I've added a few but the best one is "gap delete" with coil overs.

Thanks guys we've got a few ready;)

Hey Porschejoe!
Always a pleasure to meet fellow 6speed member and enthusiast to share knowledge. We need to get together to get your Gundo hack done then you can cross it off your list. First things first, get rid of the orange side markers, buddy. ;) One thing to add to my list will be the front bumper mesh. Your GT3 front bumper is bad-ass looking with the mesh. |
