Steering Wheel Swap, What's needed?

Hi All-

So I purchased a Porsche Steering wheel with Paddles to replace my button shift steering wheel. I called one mechanic and he says he doesn't do it because a software adjustment is needed. Others have said this is a simple swap out.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Recently someone posted a link to an album on flickr which had detailed instructions, similar to what you describe and I think he did not need software change.

I am pretty sure they do have to tell the car computer that is has the paddles now. You will also need the electrical wiring part. Some steering wheel come with it and other do not.

You didn't say whether you had a multifunction steering wheel initially, but I've heard that going from a PDK Multifunction to a flappy-paddle multifunction is difficult or not possible.
