Have one patched as well in my 335i coup, 3 days after I put in new tires. Screws.
The PS is patcheable co should not be an issue

In the tread it shouldn't be an issue. I believe the sidewall is another issue.

+1

While plug technology has improved dramatically, do not use a compromised tire on track, if only for the sake of other drivers

Plugs haven't been used for repairing flats in a long time! There not allowed anymore.Tire shops won't put plugs in.They only use a patch on inside where tire is removed from wheel. Now off-roading is a whole different story! Lots of us carry a plug kit along with on-board air.
