What Mods for the money

Ok I need some direction here. I want to spend about $5 or 6 k on my 08 C4S for performance Mods. What will give me the most bang for my buck. And also were should I get the parts and or work done? BTW I live on the east coast in LI. I'm leaning cats cai headers and mufflers. Anything else? All opinions will help.

Engine wise do not expect to get huge amounts of power.

I would mostly concentrate on the suspension / tire combo... If you track your car what's where you will see the biggest difference in terms of lap times.

I would do a better intake in the stock box and just a x-pipe for better sound. All other mods in my opinion are not cost effective with the gains advertised...

If you track your car, then suspension, tires, and time with an instructor will be the best bang for your buck.

If you're not heading to the track and you've got $5K to spend, I recommend a high performance exhaust (headers, 200-cell cats, and mufflers), a BMC air filter, and an ECU tune. You will hear and feel the improvement. Several sponsors have good deals on those parts. You can get them all from MaxSpeed for ~$4,200. It might not be the best way to spend your money, but it is your money...

I agree, suspension (lowered/sways) and exhaust (200 cell cats and X-pipe) are probably the way to go. Without FI, the horsepower gains will be incremental.

Talk to Taso at TKX Performance in Huntington Station, Derek at Martino Auto Concepts in Glen Cove and/or Matt/Eddie at Detailing Dynamics in Westbury.

Taso and Derek more so for performance mods.

Derek and Matt/Eddie for cosmetics and detailing.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

Performance driving school, tires, suspension. In that order.

Thanks all for the great input. I may do 1 track day just to see what the car will do. Had my fill of tracks when I road raced motorcycles. My car is a daily driver so lowered suspension is out considering I have to navigate speed bumps everyday at work. Even stock it is a challenge. I'm leaning towards the headers, 200 cell cats and mufflers. If I go that far I will definitely do tuning also.
Lacrosse thanks I was going to check out Detailing dynamics as it is close to my work.
Yeah not looking to go FI. As the car is a daily and there sometimes can be reliability issues. Just looking to add that little extra and put my own stamp on the car.

Gundo Hack (exhaust). It's cheap and effective.

What about the GT-3 Throttle body, plenum and filter. I am considering that for my car. People feel there is a increase in power and response.
Also there is another thread on the Softronic flash.

GT-3 Throttle body, plenum and filter or CAI? Never had good luck with CAI. looks and sounds cool though but can not justify the cost. How involved is it to do the TB and pleneum? Afternoon? Weekend? Or scraped knuckles, cursing and forget it?

All 997s come from the factory with a cold air intake.

The GT3 throttle body, plenum and filter are intended to improve performance by reducing the resistance of the intake system and allowing more fresh air to be sucked into the engine. You will also need a high performance exhaust to reduce the resistance in the exhaust system and allow more exhaust gases to be blown out.

It will take about 2 hours. Scraped knuckles and cursing can be soothed with beer.

Guzzi, I am thinking RPM went out of business. Their website is down.

Matt and Eddie at Detailing are great guys!

BTW, the Gundo Hack sounds good (I have it) but it does not add any performance.

yes, it took me 45 minutes and it was the first time of me doing this. (I'm not a mechanic!) the hardest part was the rubber connectors on each side of the plenum, the rest is literally 4 screws and 3 clamps.
