Is there a waynto turn off this feature. Most do diy at shorter intervals to make sure that engine always has good oil, cheap insurance. With the servie minder off we can just go on maintaining our cars without worrying how to turn the damn thing off

Just shutting it off without seeing first why it's on is ill advised.

Huh? The OP is talking about the SERVICE INTERVAL LIGHT. It's a dummy alert that is based on a time/distance periodic. It has nothing to do with faults with the vehicle.

To answer the question, I know of no way electronically to do it, and physically I would assume would result in requiring ripping apart the dash display. Either way, it simply isn't worth it.

I agree with you that it is incredibly annoying and I find it frustrating that both my 'luxury' European cars do not have a way to simply reset them with a sequence of buttons like my old E39 BMW.

My advice? Buy a Durametric scanner. You'll be able to do the basic resets, as well as the more advanced code scanning when or if you do have a problem code.

Good luck.

As mentioned in another post the durametric resets for 2 years only. I prefer doing my change every year at least.

+1 on the Durametric cable. It's not terribly expensive and it's simple to use to reset the service reminder (which, I agree, is annoying).

I am going to order the durametric too.. who cares that it only resets it for 2 years or whatever,, at least you can re set it when it does come on and you can change you oil as many times a year you want and just keep track of the mileage yourself. I don t know why so many think that s a issue.

wow.. that's an expensive cable. Is there anything that doesn't require a PC? would it work with a Mac?

No.. cheapest one I saw was $300. I'd need to buy that... and maybe a cheapo PC Laptop to run it on. I guess it'd be worth it so I can work on my own car.

If you just want to turn off service reminders and CEL's, go to Amazon and search OBD ii scanners. They start at $20 and go up and all claim to be able to accomplish more than these two basic functions. I am planning to purchase one as I seem to see more than my fair share of CEL's with the mods I'm running. Best,
