997 Aerokit Front Bumper versus GT3 Bumper

I'm going to upgrade my stock front bumper and trying to decide between the Aerokit versus GT3. From what I can tell both are the same except for the top grill. Is this right? Suncoast has the Aerokit bumper for $1395 versus the GT3 for $2100 - that's a difference of $705. I know many have upgraded to the GT3, but I'm trying to rationalize the difference in cost. I'm going to also order the Misha GTM wing. Thoughts?

Difference i believe and if i'm wrong someone correct me, is the front grill- which you can easily make yourself as there are cutouts ready for it- cost around around $100-$150 for the entire job.

the gt3 front bumper has the bottom vents cut out to route air from the gt3 grill through the 3rd radiator through the bottom vents.

aero and gt bumper are very nice
but the front lip will be a headache

I have the GT3 bumper but if I were you I would get the aero bumper and save the money (but don't cut the bumper for a gt3 lip, the ones I've seen never look perfect). It's funny, when I bought the GT3 bumper it was actually cheaper than the aero by a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks. I'm going to see if the one below is available from Misha and get it instead.

pretty sure thats a rinnspeed indy front bumper. maybe misha makes a replica? if it's fiberglass i would be hesitant to buy it. i scrape all the time at stock height with the aerokit/gt3 front bumper. luckily i can replace the front lip spoiler on that bumper. with the rinnspeed bumper, you won't have that luxury.

Your car looks great and love the angle with the duck tail!

At your ride height up front how many inches do you have between the underside of the bumper lip and the road surface? My car is lowered fairly aggressively and I'm a little concerned about damage.

Think this will be a problem?

Great prices!! Amazing how quick you guys installed the rockers!

Mine is also lowered with eibach springs. I'll get a ruller out tomorrow and measure.

Nice looking car !

I have the factory GT3 bumper and I have scraped it a few times already and I am lowering my car next week with H&R springs. I am going to buy a few more lips but the cost isnt as bad as replacing the entire bumper!

Matt(inMA) 12-20-2012 03:19 PM

SO I measured the bottom of the spoiler to the garage floor and it's 5.25 inches. Again I have lowered my car with Eibach springs.

I did find a great solution that will prevent having to purchase a new lip. Check out this link for info: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=276658

Your car will look awesome with an Aero Kit front bumper.

Matt - thanks for doing that. My insurance company just replaced my front bumper. I tried to get the shop to allow me to pay the difference for the Aero bumper and they wouldn't go for it. Really P!SSED me off. In any case, I'm thinking of ordering it and just keeping my new one for the future. Not sure yet. Nonetheless, thanks again. I'm now trying to decide on the duck tail versus Misha's GTM wing (on sale).

I'm also considering the GT3 nose or the Aerokit, but I can't imagine how often it's going to scrape. I'm running Eibachs and I'm already scraping the front on several inclines/entries in my daily commute. I personally think the GT3 nose makes an incredible difference on the front end of these cars, but I don't want to regret the work needed if I'm going to scrape it on all transitions.

On the same car, does anyone know exactly how much lower the front end is with a GT3/Aerokit nose versus stock? It must be at least 1.5".
