Launch control question

I just traded my Cayman for a 911 S, when I tried the car out all was fine except launch control.... I put set the 'sport plus' button and took the PSM off and steps on the brake while the car is on "drive" the car only stayed on low gear with only 1-2000 revs unlike 5-7000 from what I saw online....sorry for being a newbie, but how does this really work? is there a problem for the car?

Did you press the gas pedal to the floor with your right foot while pressing (quite hard) the brake pedal with your left? Which year is your car?

I just took it outside and hit the pedal to the limit, it worked after few attempts, and I almost had a heart attack..... Thanks! Mine is a 2010 fully loaded. Does launch control bad for the engine/clutch?

So what's the limit on doing the launch controls If I want to protect the engine/clutch as much as I can? The few times I did wouldn't hurt it anymore if I'm not doing it again, right?

If you want to protect the engine and the clutches as much as you can don't use launch control. Every time you use it this is wear and tear on the drivetrain and the engine.

Launch control always fascinates me. Does Porsche cover your tranny if it breaks? I know that Nissan GT-R owners were blown away when Nissan tapped into their black boxes, discovered about the launch control being used a lot, and subsequently denied warranty claims.

If you got money to burn launch it!! If you dont granny shift it.

I'd venture to say that using launch control puts less wear and tear on the mechanicals than a day at the track. I have not heard of Porsche denying a claim for using launch control.

IMHO I feel as if my turns are smoother when I heel-toe with the thing off. I'm from the oil-cooled era being an old fart. Hahahahah
