Something I noticed when changing my oil today
I'm lucky enough to have a buddy with 2 post lift so getting under the car was no sweat. What people say about the oil gushing out is true, man I made a mess with splatter.
But what I noticed was that when I was putting the oil filter housing back on, I kept feeling as if I was going to over torque it and break it. I'd turn it hand tight and I thought it was seated. I'd then go back a minute later and I could still turn it.
Turns out that as I was turning the filter housing, I was slowly seating the filter itself up onto the intake tube. Once I got the filter seated in there, the housing spun flush with the threads and I could put the 19ft/lbs of torque and snug it up.
Just a note for those who've not experienced this yet.I'm guessing I should have pushed the filter up onto the intake tube by hand first, then put the housing around the filter and snugged it up. Live and learn!

I alway push the filter down inside the housing to seat it. On my Volvos as well.
Also make sure the oil cap is on so the oil doesn't rush out as fast.
