DME/ECU in a time warp - Operating Hours acceleration at warp 9
DME/ECU in a time warp - Operating Hours acceleration at warp 9
Hi there
Something somewhere along the lines has gone wrong with my DME, I feel it was no doubt caused by welding the exhaust at some point in the past, which has spiked the DME in some way.
As of right now my car is just shy of 6000 operating hours, yet when I purchased it 2 years ago it had 837 operating hours with 27,000 miles.
Now the car is on 47,000 miles but 6000 operating hours.
So I conducted a test yesterday I checked my operating hours:-
Yesterday - 5883.5 hours
Today - 5985.9 hours
Now the car has had about 50 minutes use today, but without pointing out the obvious, there is only 24hrs in a day.
So it seems my cars operating hours are well not in sync with the real world. Has anyone ever seen this before?
I asked my dealership for help, their response was it looks like the ECU/DME has been tampered with as such warranty void, we can't help you.
Has anyone seen or known a DME to go like this, I first noticed it about a year ago that the hours had shot up way beyond expectation but never really thought much of it until I ask Porsche to which the response was its being tampered with and in short go away.
So anyone seen this or know of anyone who can help, something must be wrong somewhere or is it a case of lump it and just stick with it as car drives fine, zero issues, just this big niggle.

OK something crazy going for sure just turned ignition off, few minutes later key back to on, re-scanned and now its at 6088.3 hours.
Seems the area where the DME store hours is going a bit mental on my car.

Are you using Durametric to scan? I've seen inaccuracies reported with Durametric - you'ld probably have to pay for the dealer to validate your reading with the PIWIS but it might be worth the peace of mind.
