Porsche won't start?????

I put on a battery late at night backward the key was in the ignition and I didn't try to start the car. I unplugged it 10 seconds later..

Now the windows don't work

Roof doesn't open
Navigation doesn't turn on
And car won't start
Alternator seams fine...

I got a Porsche 911 C2S 997 2005

This is what it sounds like when I try to start it. :/

What could be the problem???

wc11 May 14, 2013 07:45 PM

Damn.
sounds like computer (ECU) could be fried.

Your wiring harness may need to be replaced.

Happy911S May 14, 2013 08:23 PM

I am sure you just popped some fuses. I would start with that.

Good luck!

sixgun95 May 14, 2013 08:49 PM

I assume you mean you hooked the pos to the neg and neg to the pos...is that right?

awcayenne May 14, 2013 09:12 PM

out of gas?

Andrey May 15, 2013 01:30 AM

Thanks for the response guys!!

@siggun95 Yes!

I have plenty of gas..

I checked all the fuses

Could it really be the ecu box??

Can't make out the red failure code in your video but it did say "PSM Failure".
Still leaning towards the ECU.
Polarity reversal is just not a good thing.

AP 997S May 15, 2013 08:03 AM

There is no 'Fail Safe' for connecting a battery in reverse. I'm sure you destroyed something in the electrical circuit.

Good Luck!

Purple Squirrel May 15, 2013 09:09 AM

Spark, fuel, and air...those are needed to get the engine to start.
I dont think your ECU is fried...if it were I do not believe you would not have any dash info.
You said you checked the fuses...did you check all of them or just the ones you could find?

Dadio May 15, 2013 12:35 PM

You may have fried your alternator , regulator actually but it's built in to the alternator, not the ECU assuming you hooked up the ostive first and the negative last. If you never energized the ignition curcuit I doubt even the alternator was affected. No fuses blown than no reason it won't start assuming you hooker it back up correctly. With the key in the accessary position will the steering wheel turn or is it still locked ?

I find that very hard to believe, no fail safe would mean a hazard, anything could catch on fire with a over voltage.

to the OP: I am sure there is a fuse somewhere that had been blown, you just need to find it, reversing the polarity of the battery is NOT a good thing, but it is not a catastrophic thing either, your ECU is not blown. I'm sure there is an inline fuse somewhere, maybe at the harness.

Disconnect the battery one more time, let it sit for a while and reconnect it, these would reset any voltage being held by a capacitor somewhere. check and recheck all the fuses. I am almost certain that it is a fuse somewhere you had missed

Was just going to suggest that as well.

Search "battery backwards."

There was a guy who did this a few years ago, he needed a new alternator. Obviously individual results may vary.

I checked all the fuses in the box by the clutch peddle. Are there any more fuse boxes?
