ZunSport Grille - Escort 9500ci Install

4 Attachment(s)
Several weeks ago, I had the Escort 9500ci installed behind the ZunSport Grilles on my 2011 CAB. I have driven about 1200 miles city/highway since install and have not found any lost of sensitivity by having receivers/transmitters mounted just behind the ZunSport grilles. The 9500ci has saved me from tickets at least three times since the install. The display is mounted at the very top of the windshield, just left of the mirror mount, controls are in ashtray. The install is very stealthy in the front and with the plain black tag frame in the back the laser unit looks very much that it belongs to the black frame. Originally installer planned to cut holes in the ZunSports, however the stainless steel wire they use in their grilles is such heavy gage it is next to impossible to cut with out damaging the grilles.

Sweet ride and very stealthy indeed, can't even see anything on front or the rears.

I have the same grills and love them btw..

Nice ride, very stealthy! How do you like the ZunSport grill? How much? Thanks

I love them, they really keep the trash out of the radiators. They just snap in and quality is outstanding. If you email them they will send you a 15% discount code if you mention 6SPEEDONLINE. http://www.zunsport.com/porsche-c18 I think they were about $300 delivered to US, arrived in a couple days. They are made in UK. Just for clarification I have no personal connection with ZUNSPORT. I get a lot of positive comments about their look at PCar events.

+1 agree with the above- love my grill set.

If you do purchase them, make sure to tape up the access areas to protect them from being scratched as you fit the grills for installation prior to snapping the tabs, etc.

Very fast shipping and high quality product ( no affiliation here either )

really good to know that they won't interfere with laser jammers.
This will make installation much easier :-)

Do the grills remove easy for cleaning the smaller stuff that gets in?
Bumper on installation?

Yes, you just push a medium size screwdriver through the mesh to release the holding L-spring-clips (one right & left) behind the grilles. Just as easy to remount as well. I would recommend putting painters tape on bumper to prevent any possible scratching. I have actually found that very little gets past the mesh and what does can be flushed out quite easily with a garden hose. What sold me on these first of all was that they do not require you to remove bumper or drill holes to mount.

I also like the idea of not removing the bumper and drilling. I will be ordering soon. Thanks!

The Zunsports for 997.1 's required drilling into the bumper in a several places for fitment. Not a big deal but still necessary to attach all 5 grills to the bumper per
Zunsport instructions. Attachment points must be different on a 997.2 bumper.

They are, as I mentioned there is just a single clip right and left that catch onto the back edge of the openings for the three grills on the 997.2. Just snap in very tightly.

How do you know the performance of the Laser Shifters on the 9500 are not degraded by the screen? I would think they would be because of either interference from the screen or simply taking away a portion of the surface area of the shifter.

I have a 9500 as well and have been reluctant to install the screen because I want the shifters to work at 100% of their capability.

May be an interesting question for Escort

Not to deviate this great topic from the Passport install by OP, but for anyone wanting more info regarding discussions on the grills by Zunsport and the differences in their install on 997.1, 997.2, vs other grills here's a link from RL:

I can only speak from personal experience, the 9500 Lasers Shifters effectiveness behind the ZunSports have shown little or no degrading for me. I am certain that there are a few folks who will always disagree with me on this and everyone is welcome to have their own opinion. Personally it appears to work extremely well for me by jamming and alarming when threat is in area. I had also done quite a lot of research before installing 9500/ZunSport combo, my conclusion was that the effectiveness of the 9500 is determined more by the proper installation alignment of the front Jammers than the ZunSport grills. Because of this it is important that whoever is installing the 9500 truly knows what they is doing, in my case the person who did my install are doing 2-3 9500 installs per week. :)

can u elaborate ?

i have 9500ci right now. i would think the laser shfter would be less effective behind a grill since it needs direct line of sight, unlike the radar receiver.

ur car looks great and the pics came out awesome
