Need help with insurance company

I got into an accident, State Farm said they will replace one front tire and one rear tire due to damage. I have 14k miles on the tires. I feel they should replace all 4. Is there anything official I can point to from porsche that supports my position?
Thanks in advance
George

Porsche does not support the replacing of just one tire on an axle if the other tire is worn more than 30% from new. The difference in tire diameter is not acceptable. Your local dealer service department should be able to inform the insurance company of this. (The insurance company already knows this. Your car can't be the first Porsche claim.)

For Porsche to allow the car to be used after an accident it should be inspected by a qualified tech and deemed road worthy. The difference in tread depths between sides will cause it to fail the road worthiness inspection. Thus the car is not fixed right and not usable and your insurance company has caused you further harm.

Also, be sure you get the car aligned after the tires are replaced. If the damage was from some kind of impact almost certainly the alignment is out. (Also the wheels can be damaged and require replacement, too.) Be sure the tech knows why the car is being aligned and if in his opinion he is having to use too much adjustment the car may be bent (albeit slightly) and the car should then go back to the repair shop and be checked/straightened on a Celette Bench.

My farmer's insurance agent and I just spoke about this situation as a hypothetical. My policy in force if this were my car would only cover repair of the damage associated with the accident and/or replacement of the damaged wheel and tire. he said replacement of the opposite (undamaged) tire would be a performance issue and not a repair issue.

If they will not replace the other pair, I would recommend having the insurance company paying to have the new tires shaved so that all tread depths are the same.

The insurance company is Only obligated to replace the damaged components and they legally don't even have to replace with the same exact tire. The only have to replace it with a similar product so you are not even guaranteed to get the exact tires that are on the other side. Your only option is to replace all 4 and have the insurance company replace the damaged tires.

Porsche says if more than 30% wear on a tire should not replace just one...we'll see what State Farm says...

That is true especially if your car is AWD but that does not mean your insurance company has to pay. Again they are only obligated to cover the damages. Good luck.

Can't you move both somewhat worn tires to the same axle and put 2 new tires on the same axle? Just a thought.

There's a thought! Put the fat ones on the passenger side. Your car would then be really good at turning one direction.

Call your agent, if they value your business and you haven't had a ton of claims over the years, they will speak to the adjuster.
