Dealer quotes were from $1000 to $1200 so I decided to at least do some of it myself like oil change, air filters, cabin filter, and brake fluid flush. The only thing I don't feel comfortable with is the spark plug change. It seems ridiculous to me to change plugs at now 10K miles but dealer says it is mandatory to maintain CPO. Anyway, here are a few of the mandatory photos:
nice!! If that's what the dealer said to you then I d find a new dealer.... I don t believe the spark plug change is because of the 10K miles but because they are 4 years old... even so the whole CPO warrenty can t be voided because of this. They are trying to scare you and that pi55e5 me off.

Nice 993!

Oh, and the cab is nice, too. 8700 miles is sweet, 180 miles a month. Smart boy, you bought an S. Never would have believed it, but I do like the black stone guards, good contrast, makes both colors work even better.

Want to give a quick compare and contrast on the two generations of 911s? I would listen because you REALLY DO own both.

I laugh when some expert drones on about a car he, or she, has never owned or even driven.

Someone has the P-Car-itis. Good for you.

My 2008 S had 10,000 miles when I bought it and needed the 12,000 mile service almost right away. They wanted to do the full 4-year, and I had them do everything but the plugs/coils because I also had to spring for new tires and TPMS. Several months later, I had the money and talked to my SA again, expressing concern about the possibility of bound plugs. He told me not to worry about it, just to wait until the 24,000 major service and have them checked/replaced then. Not CPO, BTW.

they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I hope you don't mind that I followed your lead and ordered from Dan at Magnagrafix, Dan's a great guy! I went with the carbon fiber guards...they look sweet!

Magnagrafik has some sweet stuff on their website. If you do choose magnetic style graphics, be sure that your paint surface as well as the mating surface of the graphic applique is completely clean before installing. Also, if you have it on and it rains, take it off ASAP and don't reapply until both the applique and the paint are dry. Same for when you wash your car. I speak from sad experience.

Beautiful cars. What color white is your 997? (That's not a joke.)

For the stone guards, are you applying the magnetic ones over the factory plastic ones?

My car is cream white. the guards were installed after removing the clear factory guards. They were yellowing and needed replacement, but I see no reason why the magnetic ones would not work well over the clear guards.

I popped the carbon guards directly over the existing clear ones.

Buy your OEM plugs at ECS tuning (or Sonnen Porsche) then have your dealer install them. Also, replace the coil packs while your at it. These are a 6 year (vs 4 year for the plugs) job, but you don't want to have to pay the hourly labor rate again in a couple years. Buying your plugs and coil packs from ECS will save you a lot of money.
