X51 Confirmed in U.S.A.
well... I agree $17K is a fair chunk of change.... but I guess there are those who don't want to supercharge for obvious reasons and resale value.... I'd like to see a dyno of the X51 997 after it was well broken in... if you want to crack to 400HP mark in a NA 997 this is your only option...
Yeah, you are right about that. I guess it's for people who really value their warranties. Although with my dealer I had servicing done on my car with headers, intake & exhaust and they didn't even look sideways at my car. The parts price for a GIAC Chip, EVO Air Intake, & Exhaust (assuming $2500) is about $4200. They claim on their dynos about a 25 hp increase with those parts (up to about 380 hp). Just a huge price discrepency. If they priced it at $8,000 it would be attractive, at $17,000 it's just out of control. I wonder if you would be able to get more than a few thousand $ in resale value from this option. FVD is claiming they have a 400 hp kit for the 997S as well.
X51 is definately not worth anything more than 7000 afterall they are saving by not using a stock exhaust and parts they replace for the X51. Whereas we are buying aftermarket parts and keeping our OE ones.
The more I think about it the more angry I get at the 17k price tag. I would have to see one of these cars on the dyno vs. stock because 17k CAN DO A LOT OF THINGS, and it should do more than 30 hp.
