I've been noticing that on just about every thread on here it seems like about 1/3 of the guys commenting are from the Austin area, so with that I mind I figured it was time someone setup a group so we can meet up and share the 997 love...

Dallas but I can drive down. Took a weekend trip down to Fredricksburg last week and really enjoyed the back roads down.

Hmmmm... I'll have to mull over the Facebook side of things, I've avoided it up to now but this may be a good enough reason to join (in a limited way).

I had looked at the official PCA clubs (Houston and Hill Country), but they seem to be largely concentrated away from Austin. This may prove to be a great idea!

Any of you guys headed to COTA for the PCA DE event on the weekend of May 3rd?

FYI – State Hwy 16 and particularly Hwy 965 near Fredricksburg are really terrific roads. Single lane in each direction w/designated passing zones and 75 mph speed limits. Scenically, kinda like Napa/Sonoma. You'll fall in love w/your car again.

Awesome to see so many responses. Yeah, I've done that drive through Fredericksburg, really a nice drive! For those of y'all from Dallas, I live in Austin, but work in Dallas, so maybe we can arrange a meetup of Dallas folks, too. My goal is to setup meetups at least once a month, talk cars, go for a drive, get some photos, maybe do giveaways and raffles from different vendors.

Dallas here, as well. Do you know of any local groups?

ETA: One suggestion would be to turn it into a discussion group rather than a page to Like. It seems to get people more interactive if they can see who they are speaking with. The group could remain closed and a mod would have to approve joining. Just for those worried about keeping their identities a bit more private.
