I Don't Believe in Magic. But...

I bought my first Porsche, a 2006 C4S about a month ago. Living in the southwest suburbs of Chicago with the weather being what it has been, I haven't had the car out and about much. I have taken her out maybe four times, but never for more than an hour or so. I know it is meant to be driven, but this car is such pristine condition that I will not subject it to undue road abuse such as salt mixed with melted snow.

The weather has warmed up nicely. So yesterday I called my son who is a senior at the University of Illinois in Champagne. He hasn't seen the C4s and I told him I would take the two hour drive so he could see the car and we can go out to lunch. I went and got the car from storage and drove it to my warehouse next to my office so I can leave first thing. What is normally a 4 minute drive turned into a 45 minute magic carpet ride!

I don't believe in magic. But I am giving witness that these cars must be magical. I am driving down the highway in 4th gear and she still has so much more to give. You just don't want to get out of one of these cars. I would have kept going, but I got a call from a client that forced me to head back to the office. The spell was broken for the moment. But tomorrow, she is mine for 4 hours. I think I might turn my cell off, no radio, and just enjoy this magical ride.

+1 for no radio, it only gets used when stuck in traffic

Yes! 25k miles in 16 months of pure joy!
Even the salt oozing from the pores after a wash!

The nostalgia is inevitable, I'll never forget when I took delivery of my c4s in Miami, I drove her for about 2-3 hours with no direction in mind

That is a great idea! Enjoy and live the moment!

lol, this story reminds me of the first time i drove it home from the dealers. the weather was humid as hell, cloudy and raining a tad but i was so floored in awe by the car and the way it drove.

not even a month more and she's back on the road again :)

My wife calls it the "P virus" (she's a Ph.D. microbiologist) and you've obviously been infected! As have we.

Awesome man. I did the same exact thing when I got mine.

Don't blame you for not driving much this winter. It was brutal in Chicago.

I know how that feels. I take a lot more trip to nowhere and my wife calls them "his 'drives' " :)

I know that feeling every single time I get in my Porsche, it never gets old. I drove 1200 miles home when I bought mine last year, nothing but a big smile all the way home.
